Welcome to our Class!

Hi! My name is Monica Jones and I am thrilled to be teaching 1st grade at Lykins this year. This is my first year teaching in Celina, but my 21st year as an educator.

I am a graduate of Texas Tech University (Go RED RAIDERS!), where I met my wonderful husband, Cal. We have three boys, Zachary attends Texas A&M (WHOOP!), Connor attends Texas Tech, and Hatton will begin his junior at Reedy High School in Frisco. We also have a sweet but busy puppy named Lola!

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling, going to concerts, spending time with my family & friends, and watching Texas Tech football/basketball games!

I am looking forward to making this a memorable year for you and your child. I am so excited to be part of the BOBCAT family this year!

Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, August 14th.

Please bring all of the supplies on our 1st grade list. You will be sorting them with your child at Meet the Teacher. Also, please label the following items with your child's name: scissors, school supply box, composition books, headphones, folders.

Please be sure to know how your child will be getting home the first three days of school, so I can document it at Meet the Teacher.

This year our class will be using the Seesaw app. This will be a way for the students to share their work with parents. You can go ahead and download the Seesaw app. Please be on the lookout for future instructions to get connected.

Daily Folders

Please check your child's folder each day. This will be where behavior notes, daily notes, and other information will be sent home. This is also where you will send notes to school.

As our dining services have expanded, so has our system to better serve our Bobcats. This is a new system so all Bobcats who wish to buy their lunch daily or occasionally, must create an account beginning August 1. Additionally, families who qualify for free or reduced meal programs, may indicate that need by filling out the confidential forms. For any Bobcat who had a balance in the My School Bucks system, those funds have been rolled over to the new system. Your balance should be available when you create an account and login.

CLASS DAILY SCHEDULE

SPECIALS CLASSES

Our students attend a different specials class each day for 50 minutes. Students need to wear sneakers every day to safely participate in P.E. or they can bring them to change into.

SNACK TIME

Please provide a healthy snack for your child to eat in class during snack time and a flip top/straw water bottle that can be easily refilled. No screw top bottles please.

LUNCH SERVICE

Lunch money may be added to your child's lunch account online on the School Cafe site for lunches in the cafeteria and any additional snacks. Bobcats may create an account beginning August 1st.

Change of Clothes

Please keep a Ziplock back of extra clothes in your child's backpack in case they have an accident at school or get dirty and need to change. Label the bag with your child's first and last name. Please make sure to swap out the clothes to fit the changing weather.
