Artist Statement: The title to my creative piece is called bored in the house. The reason why I came up with this name is because this photo summarizes my life during this pandemic. I’d say I spend about twelve hours playing video games each day, and only come out of my room to get snacks to fuel me for playing even more video games. Because everywhere is shut down during this pandemic, this relates back to my piece of staying home all day in my room due to the fact that I have nowhere to go. I felt this was the best piece to submit for this project because this photo says everything about my life as of now. As you see in the photo, I am bundled up in my blanket sweatshirt that I rarely take off, and my mind is blank as I spend countless hours moving the joysticks on my controller. When I read the options listed for this project, my first thought was to create a piece that can best describe my life and boredom throughout this pandemic, and I felt that this photo had captured my life all in one. So referring back to the question of what my inspiration was, it simply was to describe my boredom in a picture. I believe anyone in the audience can connect with this picture because everyone has been feeling lonesome and bored during this pandemic, because we have nowhere to go and nothing to do. But I think that people in the audience whose days also consist of playing games and lying around will be able to connect with this piece the most because they can relate to the boredom I have been feeling throughout these times. In conclusion, we have all experienced a time of boredom throughout these times, and the most important way of dealing with this anxiousness is finding a hobby, or an activity to do in order to stay somewhat sane.
