Writer's statement: This creative writing was based off the lesson ‘Everyday Heroes’. I titled it heroes of the pandemic because when I look back on this I want to remember that it was during the pandemic. My writing connects to the pandemic because the heroes during this pandemic are not all considered heroes during normal life. I chose this creative writing piece to submit because I feel like my other responses didn’t reflect on the pandemic as much. I chose John Krasinski because in a lot of my classes it has been suggested that we watch SGN. I hope people will also watch SGN to brighten their day and make them happier during this time.
A hero I have seen a lot of lately is John Krasinski. I know he isn’t putting himself in danger like the other everyday heroes we hear so much about during this time such as doctors and grocery store workers, and he isn’t at a “job”, but what he’s doing is heroic because he’s bringing joy to people’s lives during times of uncertainty where all you see on the news is bad things about the pandemic. What John Krasinski is doing is he started a YouTube series called “Some Good News” (SGN). On this channel he tells stories that people submit about good things that are happening in the world. This seems heroic because there are not any news channels on live TV where they aren’t going to say something negative and especially now, that’s the last thing people need. On SGN there is only positive news and stories being shared, that’s what makes it unique compared to regular news. So John Krasinski could be thought of as a hero because he is bringing joy to people’s lives by telling only good and happy stories on the news.
