About Me
Greetings! I'm Soline Holmes. I am the Librarian for Preschool and Lower School and the Information Services Department Chair for PK-12th grade. This is my eighth year teaching at Sacred Heart. I graduated from Sacred Heart in 1998. I am a member of the Louisiana Young Readers Choice Awards' selection committees for Grades K-2 (and was formerly on the committee for Grades 3-5). I am also the Secretary for the American Library Association's Graphic Novels and Comics Roundtable and am the co-chair of the Editorial Board for the peer reviewed journal, "Children and Libraries." I an also a Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources mentor and have presented about primary sources at local and national conventions. In my free time, I enjoy reading (of course!), rowing, library history, board games and card games, and anything Broadway.
This year, I'm looking forward to...
This year, I look forward to students voting for their favorite book for the Louisiana Young Readers' Choice Awards, investigating the world with intellectual curiosity and cultural literacy through books, exposure to different formats of primary sources, the Book Fair, Project 826's Pizza Poetry contest, celebrating different forms of storytelling, continuing to build our oral history site, and author and illustrator visits.
