Last Stop on Market Street
Pre-Kindergarten continued their transportation unit with a focus on the story Last Stop on Market Street, written by Matt De La Pena and illustrated by Christian Robinson. As they read this beautiful story, they discussed how the little boy and his grandmother met all different kinds of people on their bus ride. The class talked about how everyone is unique and special in their own way, just like the diverse group of passengers in the story. To further explore this theme, the girls took a trip to the Innovation Lab, where they were able to unleash their creativity and imagination. Pre-Kindergarten was tasked with creating paper dolls and introducing their person to each other. Creating the paper dolls not only helped reinforce the concept of introductions but also encouraged the girls to appreciate diversity and learn about different people.
Lego Coding Express
As the topic of transportation was discussed in Pre-Kindergarten, Mrs. Schiler brought the Lego Coding Express to the classroom. The girls discovered that different colors made the Coding Express do different things and to make the train do what they wanted they had to figure out the desired combination.
