4th grade students wrote Christmas letter to the retired RSCJ's in thanks for their vocations. They have planted the seeds for our true lives.

The Lenten season prepares for the celebration of Easter. The students reflected and prayed in the Mater Chapel using Lenten symbols of the 40 Days. They reenacted the Living Stations of the Cross to lead the ASH community to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. At each station they stopped to pray and think about what was happening at the station.

The Joy of the Easter season! Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

Prayer and meditation is a talking and listening to God. During May we prayed the mysteries of the Rosary remembering the special events in the lives of Jesus and Mary.

Sacramentals have meaning and lead us to a greater understanding of the Eucharist.

The Fourth grade walked in procession to the Mater Chapel. Processions are an important feature of Catholic culture. They are a world-wide custom going back to our Jewish roots. Catholic processions are a form of pilgrimage first undertaken by the Jews to represent important historical events. Catholics have developed many processions for special occasions to remind us that the Christian life is a constant movement toward God and our eternal home.

Pope Francis said the Bible is not to place on a shelf, but to keep it at hand, to read it often, every day, both individually and together, husband and wife, parents and children, maybe in the evening, especially on Sundays. This way the family grows, walks, with the light and power of the Word of God! As a class we learned to read scripture and ask the Holy Spirit to open our minds and hearts to the Word of God.

The 4th grade students Walked in the Steps of St. Rose Philippine on a beautiful day in the French Quarter. They visited the St. Louis Cathedral, St. Mary's Church and the Ursuline Convent. They learned about the heroic saints that built our faith.

The 4th grade students learned about the formation to conscience. They learned about the peace and forgiveness that comes through the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. Reconciliation requires an opening of the mind and hearts to God with a genuine effort to heal those we have wronged.

The students learned about God's covenant and the Ten Commandments. This brings them to a fuller understanding of Jesus' teaching of the Great Commandment.

The Holy Spirit is the life force of the Church. Through prayer, the sacraments and the gifts of the Holy Spirit the students learned that we grow in holiness. They can appreciate God the Holy Spirit by seeing the results of Christians who strive to live out the Gospel.

The Catholic Church, the global Church is the Body of Christ. As members of the Church we have obligations or precepts to guide the faithful in the growth of love of God and neighbor.

The students understand that Jesus is calling each one of us to share the Gospel. The theological and Cardinal virtues  are the foundation for their moral development. The students learn that living a life of love means caring for others.

We Are Called

Come! Live in the light!

Shine with the joy and the love of the Lord!

We are called to be light for the kingdom,

To live in the freedom of the city of God!

We are called to act with justice,

We are called to love tenderly,

We are called to serve one another,

To walk humbly with God!

Come! Open your heart!

Show your mercy to all those in fear!

We are called to be hope for the hopeless

So all hatred and blindness will be no more!
