Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus wants us to follow his teachings. The students learn to be a disciple means to be brave and spread the Good News of our Lord.
Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God, the power of God's love active in the world. The Beatitudes will lead all to happiness and a greater reliance on God.
Christ calls us to respect and value all people. God gave us the gift of free will so we can choose to love him and follow his laws.
4th grade students are learning the ancient sacred art of writing iconography. Each line is done in prayer as a window to God.
Prayer and meditation is a talking and listening to God. During May we prayed the mysteries of the Rosary remembering the special events in the lives of Jesus and Mary.
4th grade students have the opportunity to have a reflective Bible study. God calls us to be close to him. The students understand Jesus' parable of the Prodigal Son and how it is relevant to their lives. They studied Matthew 4:17 where Jesus makes it clear that repentance and reconciliation are important as he taught forgiveness by his words and actions.
The students learn about God's covenant with Moses and the promise God kept by sending his Son. The Old Testament shows God's people struggling to keep the commandments so God sent many prophets to help them.
Studying the commandments begin by putting God first by believing, loving, and honoring him above all else.
Pope Francis said the Bible is not to place on a shelf, but to keep it at hand, to read it often, every day, both individually and together, husband and wife, parents and children, maybe in the evening, especially on Sundays. This way the family grows, walks, with the light and power of the Word of God! As a class we learned to read scripture and ask the Holy Spirit to open our minds and hearts to the Word of God.

The 4th grade students are learning the 10 Commandments and how they are called to live them out. Jesus is our model of holiness and we grow in holiness through the sacraments and prayer. The Church is a world wide community and we have responsibilities as members. 4th grade students understand that as Christians we need to care for our neighbors by living the our the Corporal and Spiritual works of Mercy. They learn the virtues of faith, hope and love and cardinal. Mary is our model for virtue and discipleship.
