Line and Color
The kindergarteners reviewed types of lines (straight, zigzag, curly, wavy broken, curved) and drew them on a piece of paper. Next they painted the pictures using rainbow colored watercolors.
Piet Mondrian Pictures
Students looked at paintings by the Russian artists Piet Mondrian. We discussed his use of shapes (mostly squares and rectangles) and his use of color (primary colors). The kindergarteners glued the squares and rectangles to a white sheet of paper. Next they dipped the edge of a piece of cardboard into black paint and made lines around the shapes.
