Concentric Circles

The PK students looked at a picture of Kandinsky's "Circles and Squares".  Then they painted concentric circles on cardboard pizza rounds.

Self-Portraits

The PK students created self-portraits using crayons and watercolors.  We discussed the placement of the facial features, parts of the eye, and various ways to draw noses.  They will create self-portraits again at the end of the year for comparison!

Piet Mondrian Collages

The prekindergarteners looked at the work of Piet Mondrian.  We discussed his use of primary colors, and shapes (squares and rectangles only).  The students arranged red, blue, and yellow squares and rectangles on a piece of white paper and then glued them down.  They used a black oil pastel to outline the shapes.
