Test Option Setting

  1. Selecting Test

1) Click the menu with exam questions in Ajou Bb course

2) Click the ⓥ icon on the right >> Click [Edit Test Options]

    • [Edit the Test]: Edit the test by adding questions/editing/deleting/changing the points possible

(If any of the students took the test, you cannot add or delete the questions

    • The editing process is reflected in real-time, so it is recommended to 'Make Unavailable' before editing

2. Edit Test Option

2.1 Test Information

1) Test Description: The explanation about the test in the menu

2) Click/Unclick 'Show test description/instruction to students before they begin the test'

    • You can check how the test options are displayed by clicking the student preview bar at the top

    • Edit the test: Click 'Edit the Test' from Test Selection Page (Assignment or menu with test questions) >> Click ⓥ drop-down menu from Test Canvas and select 'Edit'

2.2 Test Availability

1) Make available to students: Select Yes/No to make the test available/unavailable to students

2) Add a new announcement for this test: Click 'Yes' to add a new announcement

3) Multiple Attempts: the number of attempts allowed during the test period

  • Unclick Multiple Attempts: Students can take the test only once

  • Click Multiple Attempts: Select 'Allow Unlimited Attempts' or 'Number of Attempts'

a. Allow Unlimited Attempts: Students can take the test unlimitedly within the test period

b. Number of Attempts: Enter the number of attempts more than 2 times (Retaking starts after the previously answered questions)

c. Score attempts using: This is activated when clicking Multiple Attempts (Select the Scoring method)

4) Force Completion: If a student accidentally closes the browser, or loses the connection to the test, the student cannot continue with the test and the test is automatically submitted

    • Set Number of Attempts (more than 2 times) + Force Completion: When retaking the test, the previously answered questions are initialized and the student has to take a new test.

    • Single Attempt(Unclick Multiple Attempts) + Force Completion: Test retaking is unavailable

5) Set Timer: The timer and time appear during the test

    • Set Timer + Auto Submit(Off): Students can submit even after the test time is ended, but late submissions require the instructor's review

    • Set Timer + Auto Submit(On): Tests are automatically submitted once the test time is ended(late submissions are not allowed)

6) Set Display Dates: Set dates for tests to be displayed and available to students

    • Even during the display dates, if you select 'Make Unavailable' the test will not appear to students

    • To limit the test entry, it is recommended to set 'Display Until' dates

7) Password : if you make a passwords, students need to enter a password to take the test

2.3 Due Date & Show Test Results and Feedback to Students

1) Due Date: tests submitted after the due date are marked 'late'

    • 'late' tests are marked as yellow exclamation mark icon from the Grade Center and they need to be graded manually

    • When setting the Test Display Dates(the dates/time students can enter the test), please take note of the due date:

If the test hour(timer hour+ test display date) is shorter than the due date, the students who submitted within the time can

be marked 'late'

[Ex. Timer hour(50min) + Test display date(Apr 13, 10am ~ Apr 13, 10:05 = 5min)

▶ Due Date should be → Apr 13, 10:55]

2) Do not allow students to start the Test if the due date has passed: Students are not allowed to take the test after the due date

  • If a student started the test before the due date, the student can submit the test even after the due date (marked 'late')

3) Show Test Results and Feedback to Students: Set options for 'when' to show the test results/Score per question/Answers/Feedback/Show Incorrect Questions

2.4 Test Presentation

1) Set the number of questions to be presented on the screen

    • All at Once: Show all questions at once on the screen

    • One at a Time: Take one question at a time by clicking back/next (If you prohibit backtracking, students are not allowed to change the previous answers)

2) Randomize Questions: the order of all students' questions organized randomly

3) Click 'Submit' after setting all the options

[Note] It is recommended to set Timed Test option WITHOUT using the Force Completion option

Ex) When a student take the test without force completion, the student can re-enter and continue taking the test in case internet connection fails, but if you set force completion, the student cannot re-enter the test and needs the intervention of the instructor to change the setting
