Investor-Lender

A term describing an individual or entity who either:

1) INVESTOR: to put (money) to use, by purchase or expenditure, in something offering potential profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value. (Source)

2) LENDER: to give (money) on condition that it is returned and that interest is paid for its temporary use. (Source)

In the context of the primary mortgage securities industry, the following apply:

An INVESTOR-LENDER trades in primary mortgages, either as an pre-existing securities purchaser or retail lender, or both.

The PEM Institute has established a trademark term that distinctively refers to an Investor-Lender as an "InLender".
