The Orange Lions started out the season in a great way this past Friday night with a decisive victory over John Hay. With a 35-6 victory, The Orange Lions demonstrated what "fast out of the gate" truly meant. Early in the first quarter, Junior QB Sean Borgman connected with Senior TE Spencer Chernikoff for a 65 yard touchdown. On the ensuing drive, Borgman again connected on a 51 yard touchdown, but this time it was to Sophomore WR Marvin Davies. These strikes, along with a turnover from the smothering Lion defense made the score 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The scoring would not stop there. Twice in the second quarter, Borgman found the endzone. Once more in the air to Senior WR Nick Garofoli, and then on the ground behind an offensive line anchored by Senior center Bobby Carran. With another score in the second half by Senior RB Jake Sonkin, The Orange Lions would bleed the running clock. The Orange Defensive unit did not allow over 100 yards on the ground or in the air, and practically shut out John Hay's offense.

The Orange Lions get to 1-0 and begin preparation for their second Friday Night Event. The Lions will host Collinwood this Friday night at 7pm in the Lion's Den. Come out and support The Orange Lion Football Program in their quest for excellence. We hope to see you this Friday night!
