Orange opened its season with a 21-20 loss against Bay Village. The Lions looked like the young, inexperienced team that they are. The good news is that a lot of players earned invaluable experience in playing in a tight, pressure-packed game. Orange opened with a 13-play offensive drive capped by a 1 yard QB sneak by Sophomore Stephen Borgman. The Lions defense played well in the first half, shutting down the Rockets offense and forcing a pair of turnovers. Orange took the lead again with a short TD pass to Senior Alex Immel, followed by a 2-point conversion throw and catch. Bay evened the score after halftime with a long catch and run. Orange took the lead with a long TD pass from Borgman to Senior Rashaan Arnold. A rough special teams night was capped by the mis-handled PAT. Bay came down to tie the score and take the lead with their own PAT. On the final possession, the Lions drove 70 yards, only to come up empty on 4th and 7 from inside the 20 yard line. Senior Will Carter broke a school record with 17 catches in his first start. Borgman completed 65% of his passes for 308 yards and 2 TDs. Junior Corey Thomas led Lion tacklers with 10 on the night.
