The Orange team won the annual Black and Orange Scrimmage that marks the first day of full contact for the Orange football program. The Orange defense shut down the Black offense from the start, taking advantage of a few turnovers. Senior Dae'Shawn Henderson ran the ball well for the Black offense. Junior Michael Henderson controlled the middle of the Orange defense from his nose tackle position. Sophomores DaJuan White and Lamar Dixon made some plays in the defensive backfield. When the two sides switched possession, Junior Chris Von Hendrix took over for the Orange offense with several punishing catch-and-run plays. Junior QB Stephen Borgman was solid and showed he is ready to pick up where he left off last season. White and Dixon each had a couple nice carries at RB. The Black defense was led by strong efforts from seniors Corey Thomas and Kevin Mahone at LB. Sophomore Milan Pittmon made a few plays on defense at CB for the Black team. The entire football program and their families enjoyed a great cookout after the scrimmage to kick off the 2013 season. Thanks to all of the moms for organizing and for all the grillmasters! The Lions are back to work Monday morning as they prepare for a 4-way scrimmage later in the week.
