The annual Lion King competition has been completed, and a new Lion King has been crowned. Congratulations to Dae'Shawn Henderson, a rising-Junior RB/LB! Dae'Shawn is the 4th Lion King, joining an impressive list of past winners. James Malcom (Class of 2012), Nate Terhune (2011), and Austin Crawford (2010) are ready to welcome Dae'Shawn into this exclusive club.

The competition took place on Tuesday and Thursday May 29th and 31st. Lion King crowns one winner on the Lions football team. This is a test, not only of strength, but of overall athleticism, endurance, and mental toughness. Competitors participate in a variety of strength-based exercises in 30-second bursts. A complex formula that accounts for age, body weight, reps, and weight lifted determines one overall winner.

Rounding out the top 4 are Chris Von Hendrix (2015), Michael Henderson (2015), and Emory Butcheck (2014).

Congratulations to all who completed this grueling test!
