Subject: Preference about a guest author, for ‘Meet the Arthur’
Dear Ms Li,
We are going to hold an event ‘Meet the Arthur’ in the Reading Week. I will propose to invite Jeff Kinney, who is the writer of “Ironman”. And I’m here to explain why I choose him; and I will suggest some activities the author can lead or help with.
Jeff Kinney is experienced in writing science fictions. The reason I suggest him for this occasion is that he is an expert of science. He is one of the well-known story writers in the USA. Most students may be interested in his science fictions. His books are famous. Most students have read his books. They know about him, the best-selling author in Science Fiction and he is hero story writer. If we can have him to join our Reading Week, there will be some interesting interactions between students and ‘Ironman’. That must be funny and fascinating!
Another reason I have this suggestion about him is that he is good at making visual effects. The boredom through mere reading can be the drawback for students. If there are some funny visual effects which can be seen, students may find it funnier and that will enable learning some more English through reading. In other words, this will benefit students. They will be having more fun and having more interest in that getting together. It will be a good learning experience for those students who attend.
While Jeff is on campus, I suggest to hold an autograph session. This is because I know that some students are his big fans! They love his stories, as his stories have been translated into 30 languages all around the world and are adapted into films. Interacting with their favorite writer can be their dream. It will be a treasurable opportunity for our student fans to get his signature in books. This session, an autograph, will attract many students to attend the event.
So, these are my suggestions and reasons. I hope the activities with Jeff Kinney will be full of fun. Thanks for your time.
Yours sincerely,
Chris Wong
