A letter of advice
Dear Connie,
Thanks for your letter. I’m sorry about your problem and I hope the following advice can help you.
First, you feel worried about your weight and think you can’t stop eating junk food. Well, here’s what you can do. I suggest that you replace those junk foods with healthy snacks such as fruits. They are very nutritious and yummy. I understand people have cravings. So, just remember you should not loosen your self-discipline, though some infrequent “cheatings” on diets sometimes are fine and most human.
Next, I think you need to do more physical exercise. If I were you, I’d try to get mixed up in everything: football, basketball, etc. You should make a weekly schedule of your working routines. I think it’ll help enormously, if you do so. I see you are worried about not being good at the team sports. In fact, there is no need to over-worry. No one was born a professional athlete. You must try hard until you become good. If your tired your best, you will be a great player, eventually. Moreover, if your goal is just to keep fit rather than becoming a professional sportswoman, I would advise you to just pitch in for the fun.
Last but not least, I think if you had the dedication, you’d lose weight quickly. I can see (from your letter) you are a strong-willed girl. So, don’t be afraid to make mistakes. You should reassure yourself, present failure is the key to future successes. I hope my advice can help you.
Please don’t hesitate to write back and tell me how it goes.
Best regards,
Chris Wong
