Goodbye my friend!
‘Wait, why are you packing the luggage? Where are you going? I asked him in surprise when I returned from the university canteen. Unexpectedly, he did not answer me and he picked up the luggage and was ready to walk out the room. He didn’t bother to look back.
‘Why? Why? Why…’ I muttered and walked back into the room.
I was puzzled why Alex suddenly decided to leave. I tried to think back what he had done before.
Two weeks ago, he mentioned that his grandmother was admitted to hospital due to illness. For him, his grandmother is his only relative and she is the most important. For me, Alex is also very important to me. We have lived together for more than ten months, but we have been friends for more than ten years. He lived opposite me from an early age. Even when we began studying at the same university, we chose to live in the same room. In short, my growing-up years are full of him. Therefore, when he told me he had to leave, I couldn’t accept that I would lose him.
The next day, I talked to another friend, Joe. ‘Did Alex’s grandmother die of illness?’ I asked Joe in a shivering voice.
Joe nodded and said, ‘He just cried for two hours.’
‘Why is this happening?’ I exclaimed. In just a minute, I received a message from Alex. ‘Goodbye my friend. Goodbye…’
Since then, I have never seen him again. I only know that he left Hong Kong. I don’t know when I can embrace this brother, but I must believe that this day will come. I will wait for you, Alex.
