Depression is nothing to scare!
Depression is a one of the most common mental disorders in Hong Kong. Nowadays more and more citizens suffer from depression. Living in such a fast-paced city, people have to cope with tremendous workloads and daily problems. The number of victims keep increasing dramatically in the recent years. Though to recover from depression is not so easy, there are still ways to alleviate or solve the problem.
One of my close friends suffered from depression four years ago. It was a torturing period for him to endure. He lost interests in everything and isolated himself from the society. His interpersonal relationship had deteriorated by depression. Also, his academic performance became horrible. He lost the incentive to learn and had no motivation to do anything. He even got insomnia and lost appetite. This severely affected his daily life and health. Worse still, he was reluctant to seek help and kept everything to himself. I suggested he seek professional advice. I hoped he would follow my suggestions and go to find some consultants or doctors for help. He did not take my advice at first. After I had a long chat with him, he finally agreed to give a try.
My friend started to overcome his depression. He changed his mind and became optimistic to face depression. As his supporter, I always accompanied him during the recovery time. He took lots of actions such as seeking professional advice and changing to lead a balanced lifestyle. Therefore, he didn’t turn a blind eye to his problem. These effective strategies were proved to be effective in alleviating his depression. Being pessimistic can neither solve nor ease the problem. Eventually, he recovered from depression gradually and reintegrated to the society.
In addition, I would like to suggest some other measures for facing depression. Your attitude is a crucial factor in defeating depression. Hence, if you feel pessimistic, it will surely instill a bad emotion to aggravate depression. Please don’t neglect such feeling, seek help promptly from family and friends or the ones you trust. They will give you a helping hand. Depression has drawn the public concern, so the victims need to be positive.
It is undeniable that the number of people suffering from depression keeps increasing. Nevertheless, if we are willing to face it, depression is nothing to scare!
