Mobs are a feature new to Wynn Mafia 2. They appear occasionally when a player visits a location, after which the player may choose to engage the mob in combat, receiving rewards if the mob is defeated. Battling a mob will count as a location action, meaning that the player cannot search or visit a location during the same phase as they attack a mob.

Combat against mobs is determined by the health and damage of both sides. Mobs have predetermined health and damage, while players' health is based on their current health and their damage is based on the damage of their equipped weapon. Battles are resolved automatically by having the player and mob attack each other back and forth until one side is defeated. Mobs also have an "initiative" stat that determines who gets the first strike in the battle; 0 initiative means the player moves first, 1 initiative means the mob moves first unless the player is using a ranged weapon, and 2 initiative means the mob moves first under all circumstances.

Mob encounters are given a challenge rating, from 0 ("Pushover") to 100+ ("Certain Death"), based on the player's likeliness to defeat the mob. What I could find written down regarding the formula was the following:

(1-h+w)/2

Where h is the estimation of the player's remaining maximum health and w is the chance that the player will survive the engagement at all. Does that even line up with the value numbers given? I have no idea. I mean, I think so.
