"The evil counterpart of the mage. You defected from Mage Island and began practicing the dark arts, favoring its power over the weaker light magic. A mafia-controlled province would be much better for you, as your magic wouldn’t be restricted by the law."

The Dark Wizard was one of the mafia roles used in Wynn Mafia. As a hyper-aggressive role, it could cripple players, convert one player to the mafia, and become a very impactful martyr for the mafia if killed. It's often been considered the game's most overpowered role, particularly for the conversion ability.

The Dark Wizard was given the following powers:

  • As a dark wizard, you have a one-time ability to break into a player’s mind, converting them to Mafia for the rest of the game. If, for whatever reason, the conversion fails, you will not be able to try again for 6 phases.
    • This was likely the strongest power in the game, and, in the official Wynn Mafia game, gave the mafia a vast supply of information and power by converting one of the town's central players.
  • With a two-day cooldown, you may blind a player for one night, preventing them from performing any actions that phase.
  • Should you die, a dark force will strike Detlas, damaging all enemies and healing allies based on your weapon’s damage. Additionally, you may choose one player to take down with you, and if you do not select anyone, your killer will be automatically chosen (if you were killed).


Its upgrade contained:

  • You are finally able to detect a magical trace lingering around Detlas, and you are given the identity of the innocent mage.
  • Your blind ability is given a 25% chance to have its cooldown cut in half, allowing you to perform it again in one night instead of two.
