Woodstown Middle School Bands
Honors Band Opportunities!
Our school district participates in both the Olympic Honors Band and the South Jersey Honors Band, as well as NJAJE for Jazz.Â
Your student can choose to tryout for any of these ensembles. Here are links for you to access more information. I have music, and will facilitate applications and auditions. Travel is not provided by the school and must be arranged by families. Check it out!
Auditioning for honors bands helps young musicians grow in skill, confidence, and artistry. Preparing challenging music pushes students to refine tone, technique, and expression while setting meaningful goals beyond the classroom.
Selected students rehearse and perform with top musicians from other schools under outstanding guest conductors—an inspiring experience that broadens their musical perspective and builds lasting friendships.
Participation also shines a light on the strength of our own music program. When students represent our school in district, regional, or state ensembles, they bring positive recognition to our community and inspire others to aim high.
Most of all, honors bands remind students why they love music—by giving them the joy of making great music with others who share their passion
Welcome back, Band Family!
We have almost 100 musicians involved in band at the middle school this year! Because of this great level of participation, we will be hosting TWO middle school bands this year. The 5th and 6th graders will be working together as well as the 7th and 8th graders. Twice as music music will fill the halls.Â
Band students meet together on D, E and F days. 6th grade meets during period 3, 7th during period 4 and 8th grade meets during period 6. Please have your instruments and music every D, E and F day.Â
5th grade will also meet on D, E and F day but they will overlap second and third period. They will begin at 7:50 and head back during 3rd period at 8:20. These students will miss some instruction so they will need to be proactive in their academic classes about making up work.Â
I am starting a 'pullout' lesson schedule for all 5th and 6th grade players. I will try not to pull students from academic classes, but this isn't guaranteed. If your student is missing a class they are not succeeding in, please let me know so I can reschedule. School work comes first! I will post the lesson schedule as soon as it is complete and approved.Â
