We made it through Band-tober! Congrats to the marching band on a successful season. I truly appreciate all the work and hours you put into it this year. Your dedication shows in the overall growth of our program!
This week we start JAZZ! Tuesday night 6-9
We will have two levels of Jazz this year. If you were in Varsity Blues last year, you are assured your chair again this year. This is our competition group. Our learning-level group is yet to be named. I have toyed with Orange Jam or the Marmalade Band. Suggestions are welcome!
We will meet combined from 6-6:30 and do our lesson work and basic warm-ups. We will then divide and I will work with one band while the other has sectionals. We will come back together for a listening lesson and then switch groups for the rest of the night.
We have a few holes to fill in Varsity Blues, and I will decide how we do that as we progress.
If you are learning a new instrument, I will NOT have time to teach you basics. YouTube is your friend. Learn to play on your own and I (and the veteran players) will help you refine your playing but we cannot teach notes and basics.
Tuesday is SCORE band. We meet 5B in the auditorium to rehearse with the choir for Wednesday's Veterans Day Program. If you are available 5A to help move gear, I appreciate it. Regular will also be in the auditorium. We will return gear on Wednesday during 5a.
Veterans Day Program. Look nice. You don't have to be super dressy, but no sports clothes or ripped jeans. We are honoring our guests, so look like it. We will meet at 8:30 and perform at 9:00.
