We are moving right along. Make sure you are keeping up. Ask for help if you feel like you need it. We have lots of staff and veterans who can help!
This week we will review dots for Part 1, add missing bodies and possibly try to play it on the field. Be sure you have this part memorized by now. We will also start memorizing Part 2 - you should be able to play this one with only a few mistakes by now. We will continue working on Part 3 and try to play it all the way through, adding in Karson's solo.
Part 4 is in the Drive! We will talk about 6/8 on Thursday and begin reading this one. This is the second hardest one so you will need to put in some practice time on it. We will also play 7 Nation Army and Let's Go Blue for fun. You can add it to your flip folder. I have extra blank sheets if you need them. (New ones are still on back order - sorry. Remember, you can buy your own on Amazon!) Remember, you are responsible for EVERYTHING we have read so far. This includes:
Take Me Home, parts 1-4
Shenandoah
Star Spangled Banner
Alma Mater
Hail to the Varsity
Rocky Tag
Louie Louie
If you need something printed, we will now have a printer down by the field. Please continue to print things out at home as much as possible though.
Do you have your dot book? You can start using it as soon as you have one. We already have to sets you can put in there. Continue getting your stuff together for band camp. We will hit the ground already running. If you know you need something, ASK!
Keep working on Tee shirt designs. They will be due the week of camp. The winner will get a free shirt!
Physicals - YOU ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME. Have you had your checkup or seen your doctor? Do you have your paperwork filed? THIS MUST BE DONE.
I am really proud of all the work we have started this summer. At this rate, we are in for a really successful season.

We haven't recruited any new members this week. Can you challenge yourselves to find a few friends to give this a try?
DCI field trip forms were due and all slots are full. We can possibly order more seats, but you need to contact staff or a Booster parent NOW to make arrangements.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR PHYSICALS SCHEDULED. Click this LINK FOR PHYSICALS and follow the directions on the page. No exceptions.
We will host a design contest for our tee shirts again this year. The theme is "Take Me Home" and you must include WHSMB2023 somewhere in the design. You can include computer or hand-drawn art and any other info you think should be on there. Tee shirts will be printed with single color design. Submissions are due the week of band camp.
Band camp is coming up! We will be in the stadium from 9AM-6PM starting on July 31st. We will be outside as long as the weather permits with a break inside for lunch, bathrooms and video viewing during the hottest part of the day. Be sure you are ready! Check the list last week to start gathering what you will need. Ask questions if you don't understand something. Your section leaders will help you be prepared. We get A LOT done this week so it's important that you are there and ready to go. We will leave early on the Wednesday so you can go home, eat and shower before DCI Glassboro.
This week, we have a few vacations as well as summer Jazz Camp so we will be missing a handful of members on Thursday. Our goal this week, is to teach you how to read and find coordinates so hopefully teaching drill will go smoothly. Justice TIM has some materials and helpful hints. We will put PART 1 (Intro) on the field Thursday. There's not a lot of sets and we should be able to get the whole thing done in one night. Review your music and keep memorizing. Hopefully Part 4 will be in your folders this week. We are sorting out a meter issue first.
Hope you are enjoying your summer!!! Stay healthy and PRACTICE!

Welcome to our new members Juliette Angelus and Angelina Jones! Our bass drum section is killing it this year!
Tomorrow is parade day! Remember, this is the ONE time the majority of our community will see and hear us. We want to impress. If you haven't practiced your music this week, GO PRACTICE NOW!
We are meeting at the football field at 8:30 AM. Wear your white band shirt, black shorts and sneakers. No hats but sunglasses are ok. Put on SUNSCREEN and hydrate. We are alternating the cadence and God Bless America. You can use music if you need it. We will step off at 10:00 and be back to the school around 11:00.
EVERYONE in Marching Band MUST have a physical this year. Follow the instructions on the school's website. Create a family account, print the forms and schedule your check-up. If you do not have this done by band camp, you will not be permitted to participate in the fall.
I am still waiting for the majority of your permission slips and DCI trip payments. Trust me, you want to see this!
This Thursday we will start to focus on the field show more and developing our sound and musicianship. Most of you (especially brass players) have noticed that your lips are tired by the end of rehearsal. The only way to develop endurance is to play more often. Guess what? PRACTICE! You want to be good. Your section leader wants you to be good. I want you to be good. The only way to get there is to PLAY.
Jessie has put together a form for you to fill out so the student leaders can plan some fun for band camp. We try to do things you guys will like so your input helps!
If there's anything you don't have and will need for camp, now is the time to order them or tell a staff member so we can be sure to hit the ground running that week. Check this list:
