July Update #1 - 7/13/2021
Dear Band Students and Families,
I had a busy week last week but I haven't forgotten about you all! Elli and I did a production of A Chorus Line and she was fabulous! Time to turn my full attention to Marching Band!
I have an arrangement done and I will be getting it to the drill designer this week. That means he needs final numbers on instrumentation. We need to know how many feet are on the field. If you have people who are still hemming and hawing about joining, get on them now!
For a small band, we have a pretty good instrumentation so far. We should sound amazing! Small but mighty wins the race. I am still making final edits for instrumentation but I will have the opener ready for you on Thursday this week.
I would like to meet virtually on Thursday, July 15 this week. Use the Classroom link: https://meet.google.com/lookup/cvbd6rsypc?authuser=1&hs=179
4:15 CG/drum majors
4:40 mellophone
5:00 low brass
5:45 trumpets
6:30 clarinets
7:15 flute/picc
7:45 saxes
8:30 FE/drums (probably won’t play)
If you cannot make the time listed, please let me (sheridan.s@woodstown.org) or our drum major John Turner (222371turner.j@woodstown.org) know ahead of time.
We will have a pick-up of poles/instruments at the field Thursday from 3:15-3:45. If you need something, let me know now so we can have it ready for you that day.
Start playing multiple times everyday. With small numbers, ENDURANCE is more important than I can say. You need to be able to play every note every time. We need your sound!
All music, drill, and other essential materials will be posted in the WHSMB 2021 - Members Google Drive folder. All students will have access to this; it is a good idea to create a shortcut to the folder in your own Google Drive for easy access. Right now there are exercises and stand tunes posted for instrumentalists, so if you want something to get started with, look in the folder for your part! Show music will also be posted soon.
Also, if you have not already done so, please join our Remind class either by texting @whsmb19 to 81010 or adding the class in the Remind app with the code @whsmb19. Thanks!
Band Camp is the week of August 2-6. You are needed!
I am finalizing staff today. I'm excited for you to meet them all. See you (virtually) on Thursday!
