10/31/22

It's the final stretch for Marching Band! We have our Atlantic Coast Championship on Saturday. Schedule for the day:

7:30 arrive at school

7:45 bus leaves

appr 10:15 bus arrives in Hershey, lunch/snack, dress

11:15 warm-ups, rehearse in lot

12:45 performance in the stadium

2:45 last band (Shippensburg University)

3:00 awards, All seniors and leaders will be on the field for this

appr 6:00 home (bring money for a dinner stop)

We have TWO more rehearsals to get ready. Let's make the most of them. Please plan to be there - no excuses. Let's do this for our seniors!

Football, Paulsboro at home Friday night. (At least we aren't traveling home after the game. Go straight home afterwards and sleep!) We will meet at 5:00 to review stands tunes. Let's get Moondance ready to premier this week.

Coming up:

SCORE Band begins this week. Tuesdays during 5B. Eat during 5A either in the caf or 116.

Jazz band rehearsals begin 11/8. There is no rehearsal 11/10.

Veterans Day Program 11/9 9:00. We are playing Forgotten Heroes and Armed Forces:Pride of America. Watch for information about rehearsing with the choir.

Doughnuts for everyone on Tuesday! You guys amaze me. Thank you for a wet, but fun and successful Regional Competition. 82.73 is a great score and with 2 weeks until ACCs I can see it improving even more. Thank you for embracing the insanity of the weather, not complaining (too much!) and for your focus when you got a chance to dance in the rain.

Coming up this week:

Rehearsal Tuesday and Thursday 6-9 - let's focus on continuing to build sound and stamina. Tim will work more on body angles and footwork with you. These areas still need improving!

Friday night - Playoffs game. We have a home game against Schalick. We will NOT stay after school. Report at 5:00 so we can review and work on stands tunes before dressing and heading to the field.

Saturday - Alloway Halloween Parade Report at 5:15. Bus leaves at 5:30. Wear a costume of your choice but be sure it is school appropriate and you can move and play in it. We will play Thriller.

Great job on Saturday! We held our ranking in all of 2A (there was a LOT of shuffling all around us.) We also raised our score by over 4 points and came within spitting distance to that 80 point ceiling. This Sunday is our day!

Practice Tuesday and Thursday, rain or shine 6-9.

Friday - pep rally 7th and 8th periods. We will parade through the school beforehand and perform the Star Spangled Banner AND our entire field show in the gym. Wear your band shirts. After school, we are staying and the Boosters will feed us again. The homecoming parade starts at 5. We will play either BB Rock or Louie Louie and wear our uniforms. Game against PG that evening. It's a long day. Stay hydrated.

Sunday: TOB Region 1 Class A Championships at Kingsway. We perform at 4:15. Be at school 10:45 for pre-comp review and warm-up. Final run at 12:30. Load truck at 12:45. BRING FOOD - no one leaves during this time. 1:45 Load bus to Kingsway. Awards are at 5:15.

We will have practice on Tuesday and Thursday nights this week. The weather could be an issue on Thursday but we will head inside if needed. Mr Brooks will be coming on Thursday to work on the ballad. Be sure to check the notes Justice TIM sent on our last rehearsal. Notes are in the comments. READ THEM!

Friday will be busy! We will stay after school for photos. Everyone needs to be here, even if you aren't ordering anything. We will do a group shot on the field and individual pictures. You will wear your uniform for these. The Boosters will feed you all on Friday! It is also senior night! Fill out this FORM to be included. You will meet at 6:20 under the scoreboard with your families to accompany you.

After we play our field show, you will remain on the field and be joined by all the other instrumentalists in band. We will play BB Rock. YOU NEED TO HAVE THIS MEMORIZED!

Saturday: West Deptford Competition. We perform at 4:00. We will meet at school at 10:45 to practice and review changes. We will load the truck at 12:45. BRING A LUNCH OR SNACKS. We will load the bus and leave at 1:45. A Class awards are at 5:00 so will get home earlier than usual. We won't get to see many other bands. Prepare yourself. We are up against other top rated bands this day. It might be the day we break 80 though!!

It looks like a rainy week. Watch your Remind for changes. We will most likely be inside Tuesday night working music with some visuals in the multipurpose room.

Schedule this week: Tuesday and Thursday 6-9 Marching Band rehearsal

Saturday: away vs Woodbury 10:00. We will meet at school at 8:45 that morning for the bus. Can we get a few Boosters to please help with drums and gear again? Band shirts/hoodies/coats and jeans.

All the winds need to get measured for gloves this week. See Ms Williams.

Coming up:

October 14 - Band night at our home game. We will be joined by other instrumentalists from all grades and play BB Rock on the field. It's easy; please memorize it. We will not get a dress rehearsal so I am counting on the 'big kids' to make it sound good.

October 15 - Competition at West Deptford. We will rehearse at school at 11:00; load at 1:15; get on the bus at 2; perform at 4:15

October 21 - Pep rally/Homecoming

October 23 - Regionals at Kingsway

October 29 - Halloween parade in Alloway (be sure to answer the survey Zarria made!)
