Hello Marching Band members and parents,
Welcome to the official start of the 2019 season, and welcome to the family! With this update, I would like to quickly recap a few key logistical points introduced at Membership Night. Please read this update in full.

This website will now contain all of the information that is presented and will substitute a majority of my email updates and the old Member Drive. Each week, I will send out an email containing the highlights of what is on the weekly update posted on the website. This is to make organization easier on you and your family to keep all of our information and schedules in one place (compared to fishing through emails). It is very important that these updates are read in full by everyone each week. They will all contain vital information to the progression of the season and that specific week.
The Documents and Forms section will contain anything handed out throughout the course of the season, as well as the member handbook. In this section, you can find our Attendance Conflicts Google Form. With this form, you can submit any absences that you are aware of ahead of time from things such as other activities or vacations. Please use the form to report absences - do not email me about an absence unless it is a sudden emergency. If you have things currently scheduled that conflict with our schedule, please fill out this form ASAP. Specific information on what qualifies as an excused absence will be discussed with the members when the member handbook is given out.
The biggest change to our schedule is that we will now be attending 4(+) away football games (compared to attending only one last year.) We will not be performing our show at these games and will be bringing the hornline and drumline to support our team and community by playing in the stands as a pep band. Color Guard and Front Ensemble members should still plan to keep these nights free in their schedules as they will be used for sectional time.

Band Camp
Band Camp and Mini Band Camp are the most crucial weeks of our season as they are when a majority of fundamentals and the show is learned, as well as a great deal of team building. These rehearsals will be held on the WHS and Shoemaker campuses. A generalized schedule for each day as well as a “survival guide” can be found in the MNight handout in the documents and forms section on the website. Please make all possible efforts to schedule vacations, appointments, etc. around band camp and mini band camp. Minimally 3/4 days of attendance at band camp are required for membership.
Communication
Proper communication is the key to our success. Be sure to be up to date on all of our communication methods!

Additional Points
Additionally discussed at MNight were points on how the activity works and what we do throughout the course of the season, such as performances at competitions, football games, parades and other community events. These points will be reiterated to the students throughout the course of the season. Mrs. Nowmos’s email to the parents contained everything necessary from that portion of the parent presentation - this information can also be found in the Woodstown Band Boosters section of the website.
