Support Staff or Human Resources

Purpose: In order to obtain any necessary accommodations at the postsecondary level or in employment it is important to understand the process.

Instructions:  From each of the chosen postsecondary educational institutions from Learning Plan 6, or employment site contact and interview the Disability Support or Human Resources personnel to answer the following questions. There should be one 9.4 assignment completed for each chosen postsecondary institution or employment site. For employment, consider meeting with your DVR counselor or contacting the local Job Center.  

Disability Resource Staff Questions: 

1. Who is eligible for disability support services? 

2. How soon should I start the accommodation process? 

3. What are your disability documentation guidelines? 

4. What assistive technology is available?  Who is the contact person?  

5. How do I communicate with my post secondary instructors/other personnel about my disability and accommodations?

Human Resource Questions: 

1. Are there company policies for requesting work accommodations? 

2. What type of documentation is required for workplace accommodations? 

3. What options are offered for completing the application process?  

4. How do I communicate accommodations to my supervisor?
