Purpose: Support groups are different from government agencies. While both groups offer services, support groups tend to provide services that will help you understand your disability, the law, and give guidance in difficult situations. Support groups can be an asset and may provide the confidence needed to ask for needed accommodations.
Instructions: Research the internet for some support groups for your disability and possible support groups that provide mentors or groups where you could be a mentor. Some key terms that you may want to use in the search are support groups for [name the disability], national organizations for [name the disability], and Wisconsin organizations for [name the disability].
Make a list of the agencies you found on the chart below and evaluate each agency to determine if the agency can be a resource for you. Put a check mark in the last column if you want to include it in your Directory or Summary of Performance.
