Grow Your Own Learning

There are numerous national transition partners that provide opportunities for transition practitioners to enhance their professional development. These partners offer a range of resources including webinars, training programs, conferences, and valuable listservs to stay updated on the latest transition trends and resources.

Consider growing your own learning through utilizing the following resources:

The National Technical Assistance Center on Transition: The Collaborative (NTACT:C) is a Technical Assistance Center co-funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA).  They offer webinars, training, resources and research in the field of transition.

Transition Tennessee’s online platform offers training and resources on preparing students with disabilities for life after high school.  Their goal is to improve transition outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities by sharing research-based practices and policies.  Their TN Tennessee Newsletter comes out weekly with up to date training, new resources and shares a transition spotlight each week featuring a student success story.

The UMass Chan Medical School Research Center has a variety of transition resources and an excellent listserv to become a member of.  Join their mailing list to receive future newsletters, products and announcements.  They especially have many resources students can engage in such as their IEP comic shorts.

Transition Coalition offers specialized professional development, technical assistance, and research-based practices and resources, all tailored to meet educators' unique needs.  They offer self-paced short courses, webinars, modules, study guides to help reflect on your practice and self-study, to name a few.  Transition Coalition offers many ways for educators to grow in transition.  Transition Coalition is supported by the University of Kansas, Portland State University and NTACT:C.
