Assignment 2.5—Know Your Assistive Technology
Purpose: As a student with a disability it is important to understand and share the assistive technology you need to be successful in different environments.
Instructions:
Part A:
View “Introduction to Assistive Technology” Google Slides.
Research any unknown words and add to vocabulary.
Part B:
Complete the document: “Things I need to Know about Myself and AT” to identify unanswered questions about your AT needs. Discuss with your case manager and decide on the Assistive Technology that needs to be included in your IEP/PTP and your Summary of Performance (SOP)
Part C:
Follow up on one piece of Assistive Technology new to you by completing an Assistive Technology Research Project.

Follow up on one piece of Assistive Technology new to you by completing an Assistive Technology Research Project. Work with your teacher to explore the best way for you to share your learning on Assistive Technology such as slides, verbal, written, drawing.
Assistive Technology Research Project
Directions: You will be assigned a specific type of assistive technology that you would like to learn more about. You will research the assistive technology topic/device thoroughly. After you finish the research you will use the information to create a digital presentation. It should be at least 5 slides. The presentation must also have a video or hands on presentation of how the device/topic is used in the classroom to assist students in their learning. The point of this project is not only to learn about assistive technology, but to teach others in our class about it as well!
