DEFINITION:
Every ball stolen, when a player is behind and moves in front of an opposite player
GUIDELINES:
It's used only in combination with Defensive/Offensive Duel. This is event, similar to the interception, happens in the head of the player – he sees the situation and what will happen before the action of the opposite player, his ability to “read” the game and react quickly, understanding the thoughts and move to take the ball before or after the pass. It's similar to Interception, but the difference comes from the position of the players before the pass. The defensive player (doing anticipation) has to go faster than the attacking player (who has been anticipated), moves in front of him to take the ball before the attacking player touching the ball. But at the moment of the pass, the defensive player should be behind the attacking player, who has to be closer to the ball, in theory in better position to reach it first. Anticipation is used always with Defensive Duel and Anticipated is used with Offensive Duel.
- they are used only in combination with Defensive/Offensive Duel and both are used in the same situation - Anticipation is used always in combination with Defensive Duel and Anticipated is used with Offensive Duel
- these are attributes, which happens in the head of the player - he sees the situation and what will happen before the action of the opposite player, his ability to “read” the game and react quickly, understanding the thoughts and moves to take the ball before the opposite playerÂ

- at the moment of the pass, the defensive player should be behind the attacking player, who should to be closer to the ball, in theory in better position to reaches it first
- anticipation could be used, when there is a movement by a player to goes in front of the opposite player or if he just puts his foot to reach the ball first in front of the body of the opposite player waiting the ball, still standing behind him, without any movement
- anticipation/anticipated could be used even after cleared/launched balls, not necessary always to be a directed pass by a teammate
There is a pass to Mane - he is in front of the opposite player and tries to shield the opposite player with his body, but he moves in front of him and takes the ball first (anticipated for Mane and anticipation for the defender)
Thiago Silva is behind the opposite player and marks him - next he sees that the other player is going to pass him the ball and he moves from behind in front of him to take if first - Silva "reads" the situation before it happens and reacts quickly - anticipation for Silva and anticipated for the other player
The Italian defender is behind and moves in front of the player of Spain on the central line and plays with the ball first - anticipation for him (the Spanish player is in better position to reach the ball first, but doesn't do some steps to take it, instead he stands at one place, which gives a chance to the opposite player to move in front of him - anticipated for him) Â
The defender in blue shirt moves in front of the opposite player and touches the ball first - anticipation for him (anticipated for the other player) and loose ball is not needed to the action of the player in pink shirt next

- anticipation could be used, when there is a movement by a player to goes in front of the opposite player or if he just puts his foot to reach the ball first in front of the body of the opposite player waiting the ball, still standing behind him, without any movement
There is no movement in front here for Thiago Silva, but still he plays first with the ball and doesn't give a chance to his opponent to take the ball - he puts his foot in front of Rashford and wins the ball - anticipation for Silva and anticipated for Rashford
Bonucci is behind Morata and tries to put his foot in front of his opponent to reach the ball first, but he makes a foul - it's an attempt by him, but when the player makes a foul and there is no movement in front (he is on his back all the time), anticipation is not needed, only defensive duel for Bonucci and offensive for Morata
N.14 in white/black shirt just puts his foot in front of the opposite player - there is no movement in front, but still he takes the ball before his opponent - anticipation for N.14 and anticipated for the other player

- anticipation could be used, when there is a movement by a player to goes in front of the opposite player or if he just puts his foot to reach the ball first in front of the body of the opposite player waiting the ball, still standing behind him, without any movement
Mane waits the ball at one place and this gives a chance to the opposite player to do a few fast steps and take it first, better reaction by him - even if the defender is not straight behind Mane, still the idea of the action is the same - Mane has advantage to reach the ball first, he is in better position and he doesn't move back to take and guard it with his body - anticipated for him and anticipation for the opposite player
Goretzka "read" the pass and sees how the situation will go and he starts his run just before the pass - he moves in front of Sterling and wins the possession of the ball, doesn't matter that he is not exactly behind him - anticipation for him and anticipated for Sterling
The defender in yellow shirt performs anticipation (with tackle) - even if he comes not directly behind the opposite player, but a bit sideward, the idea is the same and still he goes in front of him to reach the ball first, because the player in blue waits the ball too long, not doing any movement to it
After the defender clears the ball and his teammate plays with head, N.23 in gray shirt sees that the opposite defender in red is going to attack the ball and tries to put his body in front to shield it, but N.20 reaches the ball first, so it should be anticipation/anticipated for both players, not loose ball duel here
There is long pass and N.20 in blue shirt jumps to reach the ball before the opposite forward, who runs forward - yet he comes from behind, the opposite player waits the ball (also has advantage to take it first) and the defender, who is in worst position, reaches the ball first - anticipation should be used for him, not interception
N.5 in red shirt passes the ball in the middle of the pitch and his teammate doesn't shield it very well, giving chance to the opposite player to run faster and touches it first - even, if the movement of the opposite player is not from behind, but sideward, still it's anticipation for him and anticipated for the player in red
N.29 in red shirt runs faster with diagonal movement and goes for the ball, touching it before the opposite player - he is not behind his opponent, but still this is a situation for anticipation/anticipated for both players
There is missunderstanding between the players in yellow shirts with the pass of the defender and the movement of his teammate and N.30 in black shirt reacts fast and runs forward, taking the ball before his opponent - anticipation/anticipated should be used here
N.10 in yellow shirt - it should be tagged like off duel, anticipated (def duel, anticipation for the defender), because the defender started his movement in the moment of the pass, anticipating the direction of it and moved in front of the opposite player, even pushing him with his body, but still reaching the ball first
- if there is Anticipation and with his action a player directs the ball next, after the Def duel + anticipation there must be tagged Pass too
- if there is Anticipation with head - always Head Pass must be tagged next
In this situation Silva goes in front of the opposite player and at the same time he directs the ball to his teammate - anticipation to the defensive duel and pass next must be tagged
After the kicked ball, Griezmann is in better position (and should have advantage to reach the ball first), in front of the opposite player, who is behind him (in worst position in the beginning of the situation) - the defender reacts better and moves in front of the player of Barca - defensive duel + anticipation for him and also head pass too (for Griezmann only offensive duel with anticipated)
N.25 in red shirt is behind the opposite player at the moment of the pass, but moves in front of the attacking player in black shirt (he doesn't take advantage from his position at the beginning of the situation) and plays the ball with head - it's not loose ball duel, but defensive duel + anticipation for the player in red and head pass too
- if a player is Anticipated - it could be used in combination with Link up play, (if he is attacker, who comes back for the ball) doesn't matter that the player doesn't touch the ball
Mane wants to receive the ball, but he doesn't go back with some movement - still he offers himself with his back to the goal and link up play must be added for him (he tries to use his body to shield the opposite player), even if the opposite player goes in front of him and takes the ball first (anticipated must be tagged for Mane and anticipation for the other player)
Dani Olmo offers himself and the defender of Italy goes in front of him on the central line - doesn't matter that he doesn't touch the ball at all, still link up play must be added for his offering and anticipated for him (anticipation for the player of Italy)
- if a an attacking player plays first the ball (stops it) and then the opposite player steals/takes it - it's not Anticipation/Anticipated - to use these 2 attributes, the defensive player must plays first with the ball, before the attacking player
- an unsuccessful attempt for Anticipation must be tagged too - if a player runs to go in front of another player, but he misses the ball, can't reach it, the attaking player stops the ball - still it should be tagged Anticipation (with bad) / Anticipated - but only if there is some movement. If there is an unsuccessful attempt just to reach the ball with foot, without movement in front - not needed Anticipation / Anticipated, only Offensive/Defensive duels
- anticipation must not be used in the same situation with Interception - similar, but different actions
The defender in white shirt, who is on the back of N.9 in red shirt - this is not anticipation for him, it's an attempt to reach the ball first, staying behind the striker, but not successful - only defensive/offensive duel in this situation, without anticipation/anticipated for both players
After the pass of the player in white shirt, the ball is stolen by the opposite defender in red shirt - it's not anticipated, because he doesn't move in front of the opposite player, just stops him, when he tries to stop the ball
- if there is Anticipation, but a player does a foul - it's always Anticipation + Bad and Foul (and Anticipated for the attacking player)
- right and left take on or Right/Left must not be used in combination with Anticipation/Anticipated
After the throw in the defender in orange shirt tries to go in front of the opposite player, but he doesn't touch the ball - still it's an attempt by him (not successful) and he eliminates himself with this movement - take on is not needed to be tagged here (it's bad movement by the defender, which eliminates him, not some good dribble by the opposite player) - anticipation + bad must be tagged for the defender (still anticipated for the attacking player, doesn't matter that he takes the ball)
Lukaku shields the defender, who is on his back, with his body and the defender tries to move in front and take the ball first - he doesn't do it so well and after that he eliminates himself, but he realizes the possible danger and decides to foul the striker - anticipation + bad must be added to the defensive duel for him, before the foul (anticipated for Lukaku, even if he wins a foul here)
