DEFINITION:
Fight for the ball, when nobody is in better position or have advantage to reach it first
GUIDELINES:
This is a fight between opposite players to conquer a loose ball/nobody's ball - no one has the ball possession or advantage to reach the ball first. The fighting players should have the same chances to win the ball. It happens on the ground, not at the air. Could be also a fight for better position to receive cleared or crossed ball.
- there must be a fight between 2 or more players, when nobody of them have the possession of the ball or advantage to reach it first, at the same time
- the fight for the ball should be on the ground, not at the air
- if there is some not visible foul in the video (during replay or something else) - loose ball duel + foul must be tagged to the team
Loose Ball Duel for Van Dijck and the other player - both run for the ball, without any advantage and fight with bodies for it at the end
N.13 and Jesus chase the ball, without any advantage to reach it first, just Gabriel is faster than the opposite player
Thiago and Richarlison fight for the ball - everybody tries to reach it first, Thiago is faster and there is a foul by the Everton's player
The player in read (who receives the red card) does bad first touch and then he looses the possession of the ball (it becomes nobody's ball) - loose ball duel with the other player
Braithwaite and the opposite player chase the cleared ball - nobody has advantage to reach it first and during the run, after the contact between them, there is a foul given by the referee - loose ball duel for both players
When there is a replay or other reason, the real time video starts again and there is already a foul - it's not understandable what happens, but always a foul must be in combination with duel (loose ball duel in these not visible situations) - if it's understandable who are the players - it must be tagged to them, if not - to the team
After the long pass both players chase the ball. Even if one of them reaches it first, still they have the same chances in the beginning, nobody has any advance, so loose ball should be tagged for both of them.
After the pass both players (N.2 in red shirt and N.17 in green shirt) fight for the ball - the pitch is too wet and the ball stops, changing it's trajectory and both players try to take it, using their bodies and physical strength - it's loose ball duel (not offensive duel for the player in green, even if he tries to shield the ball and wins a foul)
N.8 in red shirt passes the ball backward and both players (N.25 in red and N.4 in blue) have the same chances and fight for the ball - it's loose ball duel for both of them
After the first duel in the middle of the pitch with the opposite defender, N.25 in red shirt and N.12 in blue shirt try to win the ball - for both of them is loose ball duel
There is a long pass directed to the striker in blue shirt, who is pushed from the opposite defender with his shoulder - if there was no any contact between both players, the player in blue could reach the ball, so the situation is affected by this contact - loose ball duel should be used here
- the fight for the ball should be on the ground, not at the air
- could be a fight for better position (for example after corner kick)
There is kicked ball and Van Dijk fights for better position with the opposite player
Mendy and N.20 fights for better position with the idea of winning better position to reach the ball
Walker and Havertz - after the kicked ball the defender pushes Havertz - loose ball duel + foul
Before the shot - it's not an aerial duel, because the fight between the players, is on the ground, for better position and Azpilicueta pushes the opposite player and then jumps to shoot the ball
After the throw in, the first fight between Morata and Akanji is fight for better position (loose ball duel), next Akanji runs faster and wins advantage (offensive duel for him)
Fight for better position before the upcoming cross between Benzema and Garcia - it's ok to be loose ball duel (without the ball), because the ball is directed to the zone, where these both players hold each other and it will not interrupt the direction of the cross (in this situation is ok to be used - the difference with the situations from 4.4)
N.10 (in red shirt) and N.5 (in white shirt) - it's loose ball duel, not offensive duel/defensive duel, even if N.10 is in front of the defender, but the pass is not accurate and both of them fight for better position to take the ball, nobody has any advantage after the bad directed pass
N.17 in blue shirt and N.9 in yellow fight for the ball - nobody has any advantage to reach it first, so loose ball duel should be used in this situation, even if the attacking player
The GK kicks the ball in the middle of the pitch - both players are almost on the same line, not one behind another, they just fight for position and the defender reached the ball first, so the better option here is loose ball duel
The GK kicks the ball in the middle of the pitch and there is fight between both players - it's an example, when 2 duels could be tagged between both players: first - loose ball duel (because of the fight for better position) and second - aerial duel, win for the player in red
- loose ball duel could be used in combination with pass/head pass next, if it's nobody's ball, but still one of the players reach it a bit faster and still directs it after to a teammate
Gerard Moreno - before the shot he pushed the opposite player - loose ball duel, not aerial duel, because the fight is on the ground and both players don't jump and head shot next
Zinchenko, N.17 - the fight is on the ground, not at the air, so it's loose ball duel and head pass for him, not an aerial duel
Before the head shot - it's not an aerial duel, because the fight between the players, is on the ground, for better position and Azpilicueta pushes the opposite player and then jumps to shoot the ball
N.9 in pink shirt fights for the ball and reaches it first - doesn't matter that he touches the ball after the duel, here pass is not needed, because he doesn't direct the ball to some teammate
Both players (N.16 in red and N.44 in white) attack the ball at the same time and N.16 reaches it a bit earlier, which gives him chance also to direct the ball, so for him should be tagged loose ball duel and pass
- similar actions, but other options are better instead of loose ball duel
This is not an Aerial duel between Griezmann and the opposite defender. Also not a loose ball duel, because Griezmann has advantage, he is in front of the defender and leaves him to go in front - but he is anticipated (defensive duel + anticipation and head pass for the opposite player)
N.36 in black shirt passes the ball in the middle of the pitch and after that he starts to run - the opposite defender holds him with hands - this must be not tagged like loose ball duel, because otherwise it will affect the pass of N.36 and the software will consider it from the same spot, where it's passed to the spot, where the duel is tagged, which is not accurate (the pass is and must be directed to the sideline). So these type of loose ball duels, when the ball has different direction, must be not tagged
After the first pass N.36 in black shirt tries to press very aggressive, but an opposite player stays on his way and stops his run with his body - this must be not tagged like loose ball duel, because the ball is directed with a long range kick next to completely different zone and if there is a duel tagged here after the long pass, it will change the right direction of the pass - these type of fights without the ball must be not tagged
At the end of the attack N.7 from Valencia passes the ball and tries to sprint after that, but he is tackled by the opposite player - there is no foul whistled, so loose ball duel must be not tagged to avoid interrupting the direction of his pass, doesn't matter that the player of Barcelona stops his movement in this way
After the defender clears the ball and his teammate plays with head, N.23 in gray shirt sees that the opposite defender in red is going to attack the ball and tries to put his body in front to shield it, but N.20 reaches the ball first, so it should be anticipation/anticipated for both players, not loose ball duel here
The player in green shirt, near the penalty area, tries to find space to play the ball forward, but his first touch is not so good and he gives a chance to the opposite player to jump in his feet with attempt to stop him - it's an offensive duel, with left here - this is the idea of the whole duel, not loose ball duel, doesn't matter that at the end both player have chances to reach the ball at the same time
After the cross the GK goes forward to take the ball, but the opposite player does a foul against him - the contact is at the air, so aerial duel win should be used for the GK, not loose ball duel (and also exit too)
For N.88 in white shirt is offensive duel, not loose ball duel with the opposite player, who runs back and steals the ball from him, because N.88 has the possession of the ball, just he is not enough concentrated (also not a good control of the ball) and let the opposite player (who is very aggressive) to take the ball from him
