DEFINITION:
Intercepted / blocked directed action, when a player cuts the trajectory of the ball
GUIDELINES:
It's used when a player stops/cuts/blocks the trajectory of the ball, intercepts it, after some opponent's action - usually shoot, pass or cross. This is an event, which happens more inside at the head of the player – he sees the situation in advance, what will happen before the action of the opposite player, the ability to “read” the game or react quickly, move to intercept the ball before or after the action...also just could stay at the right place, because he "knows" where the ball will go. In general - interruption of the opposite directed ball.
- it's used, when a player stops a directed action - mostly for blocked pass, shot or a cross
- the ball must hit a player, not the player to kick it - he must stands on the trajectory of the ball
- there must be some idea in the action (shot or cross) or some opposite player, who could reach the directed ball, if the player doesn't take the it/cuts the trajectory of the it
- interception should be used, when a player do some steps, some movement, change his position to cuts the trajectory of the ball, goes to intercept it or stays at the right spot, where he thinks the ball will be passed
- if there is free kick shot and the ball hits somebody from the wall - if it's visible, the interception must be tagged to the player; if it's not - to the team
- interception should be used even if the ball stays to the possession of the opposite team after
Interception - blocked shot for N.21 from Ajax, after the shot of Mane - just stands on the way of the ball and blocks the shot
Blocked shot by N.2 in blue shirt - the ball hits him and deflects from his body
When there is a shot from free kick and it's visible who from the wall blocks it - interception must be added for the player; if it's not visible, who blocks the shot - must be tagged on the team - Here it's visible that Benzema blocks the shot
Blocked cross for N.18 in red shirt and the ball goes out of the pitch - the ball hits him from close distance and he doesn't react to it, not N.18 kicking it out of the pitch - small, but important difference
Pique blocks the cross of Benzema
Pique blocks the shot of the opposite player
Even if a player blocks the ball with hand, Interception must be tagged, because still he cuts the trajectory of the ball (and hand foul next, if the referee whistles it)
When it's not understandable who blocks the shot from the wall, Interception must be tagged like a team event
- if a player blocks an action and the ball goes away, doesn't do anything else - it's the button Interception; if it stays in his possession of the player and he does some other action, must be tagged the other action with added attribute vol. interception
- if a player just blocks the opposite action and the deflected ball goes to a teammate - it's only interception, not a pass, because it's not directed ball
In the same moment, when Pique intercepts the opposite pass, he also directs the ball to a teammate (does some other action too, not only intercepts the ball, bus also passes it) - it should be pass + attribute vol.interception
Again, Pique cuts the opposite pass and directs the ball to his teammate - pass + vol.interception
After the shot of Maguire, the ball hits the opposite player from close distance - he doesn't play with the ball, just stands on its way - only Interception must be tagged (not with head pass), because he blocks the shot and do nothing else
After the pass of N.6 from Bayern, the ball touches Reus and deflects from him - he doesn't react/direct it, so only Interception for him, without head pass
N.2 from Italy at the end of the clip - he is in front of the opposite player (who could reach the ball, if N.2 does't play it) and he clears the ball after the cross - the ball fly enough long time and he has time to decide how to play it - he kicks the ball, not the ball hits him - pass + vol.interception and clearance
Kante intercepts the opposite pass and the ball stays in his possession - he passes it immediately next (does some other action) almost from the same spot, so the right event must be pass + vol.interception, not only Interception
Shaw intercepts the opposite pass and next runs with the ball enough long distance before passing it - because of the distance here, 1st there must be tagged Interception and later, at the moment of the pass - must be tagged pass (the difference with the previous clip of Kante is that Kante passes the ball from the same spot, but here Shaw runs with it some meters)
In this situation the GK intercepts the ball and throws it after some seconds - it's not a mistake to tag this event (if the distance is not big enough) like hand pass + vol.interception like one event, doesn't matter that the interception will be not visible in the clip
After the cross, N.6 in blue/black shirt clears the ball - he reacts to it, directs it, so it should be tagged like pass + vol.interception (clearance and bad too), not only Interception
- it could be used for the GK too, when there is some pass or low cross, which he intercepts
- it's rare possible to be in combination with clearance (mostly for the GK could be used) - not every intercepted/blocked ball (usually for what is used this event), which goes out of the pitch, must be in combination with clearance
The GK goes forward to intercepts and punches the ball (not Exit, because it's not a ball high at the air) - also clearance could be added to the Interception here (most of the times only for the GK actions should be added)
Sommer reacts to the action of Rabbiot, who tries to pass (not to shoot) the ball and intercepts it - middle height balls also could be tagged with Interception (+clearance here), not with Exit for the GK
- an attempt for interception, when the player doesn't touch the ball, is not tagged like Interception, but like Touch + ball missed
N.18 in blue/red shirt - he tries to block the opposite cross, but he doesn't touch the ball - attempt to block a cross (or shot, pass...), which is not successful from such a close distance to the opposite player (even if the ball goes close to the player), must be not tagged like Interception
- if there is a deflection, a player touches the ball after shot/cross, but the ball continues into the penalty area/goal, the interception should be tagged 1 second before the cross/shot to avoid software mistake, because they will be tagged not like blocked
- 2 interceptions must not be tagged one after another, it should be tagged only to the first player, who touches the ball
Marquinhos in white shirt - even such a small deflections (after the pass of De Jong) must be tagged like Interception and for the next player, who clears the ball - his action must be with loose ball (2 interceptions, one after another, must be not tagged)
Haaland tries to clear the ball, but not so successful and the ball goes to Hummels, who passes it next - for him must be used loose ball, not interception, because Haaland already player with the ball
N.12 from Sevilla touches the ball, after the cross of Haaland, but the ball continues into the penalty area (N.12 doesn't change so much the trajectory of the ball) - still Interception must be tagged for him, but before the cross (to not interrupt the software algorithm), because the cross must be tagged like low, not blocked and yet his touch must be not missed
Goretzka, N.18 in black shirt - doesn't matter that the ball still reaches the target of the previous pass and Goretzka doesn't win the possession of it for his team, , still England have the ball, Interception must be tagged for him
N.13 from Ukraine tries to block the shot and there is slight deflection from him (still important deflection, which doesn't allow to his GK to react better and leads to a goal at the end - if the deflection was missing, probably the GK would save the shot) - it's significant deflection, which can't be skipped and yet the shot must be tagged in goal, not like blocked, so the Interception of the player must be tagged 1 second before the shot and goal to the shot, to be avoided software mistake and both actions to be visible
N.17 in blue shirt - the ball deflects by him and still continues into the penalty area (the ball's trajectory is not cut) - again, the Interception (slight deflection, but still he touches the ball) for N.17 must be tagged before the cross (which must be tagged like low, not blocked)...also the touch next of N.6 should be with loose ball, not interception
N.21 in blue shirt passes the ball and it's slightly touched by N.26 in black shirt and after that passed by the right defender in black shirt - for him will be pass + loose ball, because 2 interceptions (one after another) are not possible to be tagged - interception should be tagged for N.26 for the first touch of the ball
- when a player intercepts a teammate's pass (of course by accident) - touch must be used. If there is a shot or a cross - Interception must be used, because the shot/cross should be tagged like blocked - the only one situation, when Interception could be used, when the ball comes by a teammate
After the shot of N.16 in red shirt, the ball hits his teammate - N.8 - only in this situation Interception could be used after teammate's action, because the shot is blocked and must be tagged like blocked (by a teammate, but still...), so Interception must be tagged for N.8 (the software expects to find Interception next, when the previous action is blocked shot)
N.20 in white shirt shoots the ball, but it hits his teammate, who tries to avoid it - it's one of the rare exceptions, when touchInt (for N.11) could be used after an action, done by a teammate, because here the shot should be blocked (not in goal) and interception is expected after
