DEFINITION:
Every pass with head, when the player is alone (not with an opposite player)
GUIDELINES:
It's used when a player is alone (without an opposite player to disturb him) and plays/pass/clear the ball with his head.
- always, when there is a play with head and the player is alone (not jumping with an opposite player - aerial duel or a shot with head)
- if it's a pass with head, behind the defensive line (through pass), it should be head pass, not smart pass + through pass
Head pass by Haaland from Durtmund
Head pass by Haaland after the deflection from his teammate
Head pass (and link up play) for Insigne
When there is through pass with head (the player in orange/pink shirt) - it's always head pass (without through pass, because this option is not choosable in combination with head pass)
- if there is an action from close distance and the ball hits the head of the player (he doesn't react to it), it's not head pass, but interception, doesn't matter that it's with head
- pass with chest/shoulder is a pass, not a head pass
Doesn't matter that the ball hits the opposite player in the head, after the shot of Maguire, it's blocked shot - the opposite player doesn't react to the ball and does't direct it with head (Interception for him)
After the pass of N.6 from Bayern, the ball touches Reus - he doesn't react/direct it, so only Interception for him, without head pass
The pass with chest by Walker - it's pass, not head pass
Dolberg, N.12 in red, intercepts the ball and passes it with chest - pass + interception, not head pass
In this situation, after the shot of Messi, Benzema blocks the shot with head - the ball hits him, he doesn't play it, just blocks the shot, so this is not a head pass + vol. interception, but only Interception
N.77 in black shirt - after his first attemt to cross the ball on the ground it comes again to him and his second attempt is an example (very rare, but possible) for cross with head (not head pass in this situation)
N.11 in red shirt - he tries to clear the ball with head (not successful the first time) and next clears it with foot - head pass is not needed in this situation (he can't pass the ball to himself and also the distance is short to use touch), just launch + clearance
- if there is anticipation by a player and he pass/clears the ball with head, both events must be used (def duel, anticipation and head pass)
- could be cleared ball with head (with interception/loose ball and clearance)
Head pass (also interception and clearance) for Haaland
Cleared ball with Head by Pique
N.3 in yellow is pressed and he clears the ball with head
Head pass + interception and clearance for the GK (not exit, because he goes forward to intercept the pass)
This is not an Aerial duel between Griezmann and the opposite defender - Griezmann is anticipated, but there is no fight at the air, it's fight for better position (defensive duel + anticipation and head pass for the opposite player, who moves in front)
De Jong clears the ball with head after the cross
After the cross N.14 in blue shirt clears the ball with head - it should be tagged like head pass + clearance + interception, doesn't matter that he reaches the ball after and passes it againÂ
- if there is an opposite player near by, but without any attempt to play for the high ball - it's head pass, not an aerial duel
Zinchenko, N.17 - the fight is on the ground, not at the air, so it's loose ball duel and head pass for him, not an aerial duel
This is not an aerial duel, because there is no fight at the air between both players - the Spanish player misses the ball and the player in read clears it with head next
A player in white shirt crosses the ball into the penalty area and his teammate tries to kick it with his foot high at the air, but he misses it and the player in green shirt clears it with head - it's touch, ball missed for the player in white (he misses to kick the ball, there is no fight at the air with the opposite player) and head pass for the player in green - just plays with the ball, after the opposite player misses it
For N.5 in red shirt should be tagged head pass, not aerial duel, doesn't matter that the opposite player runs to disturb him, still it's not a fight at the air
- always must be considered the idea and the position of the player - if he is inside of the opposite penalty area, even if it's not a good attempt, most probably the player should try to shoot, not to pass the ball
N.10 in white shirt - doesn't matter that the ball reaches his teammate and he shoots, still the idea of N.10 is to shoot the ball, not to pass it - it must be head shot here
Busquets jumps with the opposite players - he tries to shoot the ball, not to direct it to his teammate - always the idea of the player must be considered (2 aerial duels here for him)
