Science for Life's Roving Scientist, Megan Begley, works in conjuntion with science leads to tailor, plan and deliver STEM enrichment based on each school's needs. This year, some schools opted to have STEM workshops. Megan delivered a workshops to Nursery and Reception pupils based on the life cyle of a butterfly and farming. Key Stage 3 and 4 students at Samuel Rhodes Secondary School for students with Mild Learning Disabilities, enjoyed taking part in workshops based around different STEM ideas.
"The whole class benefited from this hands-on sensory lesson. All students were actively engaged and excited to take part, which made the learning experience meaningful for everyone. In particular, several pupils showed noticeable gains. They were able to answer questions about what they had learnt, demonstrate understanding through their actions, and express genuine enjoyment in the activities. "Children had hands-on creative and sensory learning experiences to support links and connections between learning around the farm animals topic. Some children who do not usually choose to engage in the creative area by choice were attracted to the creative activities - the vehicle of farm animals was successful in appealing to them."
