December 4th, 2019: The Gillespie Science Committee and Year 5 pupils hosted an Arts and Science event. Pupils from Gillespie and Thornhill Primary Schools led and participated in science activities that had links to the arts. Here the pupils are making models of the water molecule which looks like Mickey Mouse!
Two artists made presentations about how their art work links to science. One artist's work showed how many carbon atoms can fit across the breadth of a piece of hair. The artists spoke highly of the pupils' ability to explain the science behind what they were doing.
Parents and siblings enjoyed joining in after school.
