George Washington Carver lessons

In order to acknowledge scientists following Black History Month, classes at Gillespie P.S. visited Lab_13 to learn about the botanist, agricultural chemist and inventor George Washington Carver.

Pupils felt lab equipment whilst blindfolded. They deduced what it was; how it could be used and learnt the correct terminology for each piece.

Pupils worked collaboratively to select appropriate equipment and materials to invent their own product from plant matter.

They tested and adjusted their products and suggested ways to make improvements to them.
