Primary lessons at Arts and Media School Islington
In his role as Principal Investigator for the Science for Life partnership, Abu Hassan has been offering primary school pupils an opportunity to visit Arts and Media School Islington to experience undertaking a science lesson in a secondary school laboratory. The aims for these lessons are as follows:
to smooth the transition process for pupils moving from Key Stage Two to Key Stage 3
to allow pupils the opportunity to work with equipment and resources that may be unfamiliar to them in a primary school
for Key Stage 2 pupils to be mentored by Key Stage 3 students
to continue to build pupils' belief that they could pursue the sciences if they wished to
If you work in an Islington primary school and are interested, please contact Megan Begley (Science ofr Life Lead) mbegley@gillespie.islington.sch.uk
Some comments from a class teacher:Â
'The children were universally excited and engaged. The process of completing the experiment and the equipment required was interesting and they learnt a lot.'
