On Tuesday 19th March, pupils from six Science for Life hub schools (Ashmount, Hargrave Park, Newington Green, Rotherfield, Copenhagen and Whitehall Park) attended a Teamwork event at the Institute of Physics (IOP). The day got off to a fun start with pupils playing Science Pictionary. Pupils were then mixed up and set the challenge of building a bridge. IOP public engagement officers, Toby Shannon-Smith and Imogen Thompson, set up shop and gave each team tokens to buy materials to build their bridges. Following on from that, each school group made a presentation in the conference room. Space, magnetism, steady hand games, water clocks and floating and sinking were the topics covered. Pupils were then treated to a very interesting presentation by Alex Davies, a Space Engineer at RAL space. RAL Space carry out world-class science research and technology development. The pupils asked Alex very thoughtful questions. Finally, pupils were excited to welcome their parents to the exhibition space to share their work. Congratulations to all the pupils who participated in the physics' challenge and who made presentations.Â
