Climate Change Event

On Wednesday 19th November, pupils from six Science for Life hub schools attended Science for Life’s Climate Change event. They led and undertook activities related to climate change. These included making wind-powered cars and turbines to highlight the importance of renewable energy sources; sorting animals that are increasing and decreasing in number due to rising sea temperatures; making rafts in response to rising sea levels; reading about climate change; sorting activities that are good and bad for the environment; writing climate pledges and creating strong towers in response to extreme weather conditions.

Pupils were very interested to watch and listen to presentations from two visitors working in careers related to sustainability: Noorin Khamisani, a Sustainable Fashion Designer and academic and Oliver Knight, co-founder of a clean energy startup. Pupils were very keen to find out responses to their questions.
