EVENT NUMBER 16a/b Regular Activities
VENT NUMBER 16a/b
16a. Informal Local Event - Monthly Pub Lunch
Up to a dozen of us get together socially on the first Friday of each month, at lunchtime, in the Crab and Winkle pub at the top of Lincoln Road in Werrington. (PE4 5BW).
No invitation or booking form is needed; just turn up at 12.00 noon for some convivial conversation over a pint and some food if you want. Partners are welcome.
16b. Conservation Activity
Twice a month, from September to April, the Conservation Group visits either The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust at Deeping Lakes, or The Langdyke Countryside Trust which manages several nature reserves near Helpston and Maxey. This is a great opportunity to work together with other members on valuable local environmental and conservation initiatives.
Part of our efforts secure favourable breeding and feeding grounds for both resident and migratory birds. The different reserves also provide habitats for butterflies, bees, moths, and great crested newts, as well as some rare plant species and varieties of orchids.
Tools are provided. Stout footwear or wellingtons and thorn-proof gardening gloves plus suitable clothing for the weather plus any refreshments you need are all that is required.
The conservation days are usually on the 1st Thursday of the month at Deeping Lakes and the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Langdyke Trust, from September to April although sometimes may be the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. Contact Garth for details.
