Brian Pearce's Talk at St. John's Church

How Volunteering Changed my life

“How volunteering changed my life” was the subject Brian Pearce chose to talk about  at what was the 1st of a number of events planned for St John’s Church in Peterborough’s Cathedral  Square over the next few months. He was their first guest speaker on February 24th 2015.

Brian soon caught the attention of the audience relating what has been achieved since he first offered to help Rev Patton restore an old steam engine.

With slides (2 attached below) showing how he has by various ways / means and with the help of 2,500 people, often during Community Days, from local and national companies changed an odd shaped piece of land adjoining the Nene Valley Railway into what is now an incredible wild life haven.

Brian emphasised “that without Perkins/ Caterpillar this project would never have happened” people helped because Perkins /Caterpillar had helped - like the team days – they started in the days of Nigel Parkinson.

He also said “there is no end to what can be achieved if companies, groups and individuals work together for a common cause, and there is no better cause than protecting our environment and encouraging habitat creation.

It is my intention to get to as many of these events planned by St John’s Church, perhaps  see some other Perkins people there.
