Winners of the Team Gold Award:



2023/2024 Warranty Excellence represented by Tony Whitfield and Jay Akbar.

Warranty is one of the key Service elements which provides direct, tangible customer value, demonstrating confidence in the products and services, while having a positive impact on the customer experience. The Warranty Excellence project identified and implemented an industry-leading Closed Loop warranty process that gives early warning of emerging issues, which has resulted in a significant reduction in claims processing time, faster feedback to Production on any potential problems, and increased customer satisfaction. Excellence was a key focus of the project. The award and certificate was presented by David Goldspink (PLSC Patron) and Adrian Talbot (PLSC President).

2022/2023 The 1200 Series Wuxi Introduction team which established a second manufacturing facility for the 4.4 and 7.1 Litre engines in Wuxi, China, to better serve customers in Asia who consume these engines.

The team had to liaise across continents to establish an assembly facility in Wuxi that would manufacture these engines to the same standards as Peterborough. They had to implement a new part numbering system, work with Global Purchase to set up the new supply chain, ensure that the engines were fully certified to current emission standards and liaise with customers to ensure a smooth transition. An emphasis on product quality, legislative compliance and safety was maintained throughout the project, which delivered significant business benefits. The lead customer in Asia gave unsolicited feedback, praising the team for their collaborative approach, excellent communication and project execution. Yun Qian and Daiva Scoditti from the 1200 Series Wuxi Introduction Team came forward and received the Team Gold Award trophy and certificate from David Goldspink (PLSC Patron)


2021/2022 GED-UK Team was responsible for developing electrified power system capability within Global Engine Development for a Cat® machine. With stringent emissions standards and a global focus on alternative power, this team set out to provide the capability to install a large capacity lithium-ion battery and test a battery powered electric machine. A tremendous example of delivering ground-breaking technology through teamwork across multiple teams and will have long-term deliverables for Cat® machines. This team scored highly in all categories from employee development to project management, teamwork, commitment and excellence. Gavin Bailey and Christopher Ward received the trophy and their certificate from David Goldspink (PLSC Patron)

2018/2019 NEXT GENERATION - 1.1 LITRE  Team, who was responsible for winning the engine business for the Caterpillar Next Generation of Mini Hydraulic Excavators with the 1.1 Litre engine. To make this project a success, superior Teamwork was required across three continents and the Commitment of team members and focus on Excellence throughout were outstanding. The project has been an exceptional demonstration of cross-functional global collaboration to support an enterprise partner in meeting their product, time, cost and quality objectives. The award was presented to Phil Brussee and Gemma Harding representing the team by David Goldspink (PLSC Patron) 

 

2017/18 PERKINS SMART CAP Team, who developed this world first for fitment on new and existing Perkins mechanical and electronic engines. Installed by simply replacing the existing oil filler cap, this solution allows end users to connect their mobile device to the engine via the free Perkins My Engine App on their smart phone. The cap monitors the Perkins engine and sends data direct to the App, such as location, running hours, service reminders and parts book info. The award was presented to team members Ian Bradford and George Bushell by David Goldspink (PLSC Patron)

 

2016/17 PERKINS PARTS GROWTH STRATEGY Team, who since 2014 have been working on a strategy to deliver a very significant increase in sales. The project has started to deliver parts sales revenue growth through its eStrategy work to enable customers to order parts online, a new Regional Parts Distribution Centre in North America and new parts and service options. There is still further implementation to come. In all categories - project results, teamwork, commitment and excellence - the team stood out above the other projects. The award was presented to the team headed up by Michael Wright and Damian Ferguson by David Goldspink (PLSC Patron) and Anna Errico (PLSC President) 

 

2015/16 LOGISTICS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE, focused on redesigning the Logistics operations at Peterborough to consolidate warehousing space, by eliminating external warehousing space used by the Peterborough operations and bringing back on site the inventory stored there. The award was presented to the team headed up by Paul Smitheringale by David Goldspink (PLSC Patron) and Anna Errico (PLSC President) 

 

Winners of the Perkins Team Gold Award:

 

2014/15 SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD, to the Marketing Centre of Excellence team for the worldwide work in reinforcing and growing the Perkins brand presence in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and North America. The award was presented to Adrian Talbot by David Goldspink (PLSC Patron) and Bob Gregory-Smith (PLSC President) 

 

2013/14 TRANSACTION PRICING, set up to focus on profitability and commercial capability. The team achieved outstanding results, exceeding its targeted and quantified objectives. Bottom line profitability had been improved as the business captured the full value of its products in the market place. The award was presented to Richard Sambrook, Andrew Dean and Chris Weeks by David Goldspink (PLSC Patron)

 

2012/13 WIN AT THE WACKER NEUSON GROUP, for delivering a focused approach to increase our annual share of business with the Wacker Neuson Group, manufactuers of compact construction and agricultural machines at Tier 4 Interim. A display of strong Teamwork, Commitment and Excellence in the delivery of the project. The award was presented to Warren Houston by Tana Utley (PLSC Patron)

 

2011/12 THE 854E NPI  PROJECT TEAM, for delivering an extremely challenging result, in a very limited time, namely a new engine built by Fiat Power Train in Turin, to Perkins customer requirements. Teamwork and Commitment had been absolutely evident with everyone going the extra mile to make sure all aspects of the new product introduction were co-ordinated successfully with their Turin counterparts. An excellent product has been delivered, being well received by the market and customers. The award was presented to Paul Gadd and Theresa Nightingale by Gwenne Henricks (PLSC Patron)
