Gold Award

Gold Award (presented by the Perkins Long Service Club)

The Gold Award, created in 2016, supersedes the original Perkins Long Service Club Golden Jubilee Award and since 2012, the Perkins Team Gold Award.

The following explains what the Award is about.

In 1982, the Golden Jubilee year of Perkins, the Perkins Long Service Club initiated an award, called the Perkins Long Service Club Golden Jubilee Award, which was to be given to the Department that had made the greatest contribution to the prosperity of Perkins in the previous year.

Over the years the criteria developed to include non-financial elements such as Teamwork and Technical Excellence.

The Award (see photo), judged by the Perkins Long Service Club Executive Committee, was presented at the Annual Dinner of the Club.

For 2012, the 80th Jubilee year of the company, the Club decided to revitalise the award, creating a more specific emphasis on benefits to people and values in action and renamed it  "The Perkins Team Gold Award".

In 2016 the specific Perkins emphasis was removed to reflect the changes in Caterpillar, where business in Peterborough is now focussed around the Industrial Engines offering in both Caterpillar and Perkins brands, with production of the engines in several plants worldwide.

The award is renamed “The Team Gold Award”, its aim being “To recognise the achievements made by a team to support and enhance the Industrial Engines business at Peterborough and associated facilities, through growing the people, products and reputation of the business while demonstrating teamwork, personal commitment, excellence and sustainability”. The reputation of the business covers its image or perception in the eyes of customers/market, employees, wider community, suppliers and shareholders.

The Award (see photo of the Shield) is open to teams based at facilities worldwide associated with the Industrial Power Systems Division, and is open to all Divisions (including Cat Electronics, HR Shared Services, GIS, GED, Finance, Global Purchase etc.) which support the Industrial Engines business. However, at least one member of the core team (or the project sponsor) shall be based in Peterborough.

The award, judged by the Perkins Long Service Club Executive Committee, is presented at the Annual Dinner of the Club to be held in May each year.
