Webmaster’s report for the PLSC 2025 AGM in April 2025, by David Foster (Webmaster).
The website continues to work well and seems to be liked by users.
This year it seems to have come into its own for members to book their places on 2025 events. I have made the booking procedure as easy and straight forward as I can. Each event has its own page on the website and from there the Booking Form can be viewed and either be printed or completed electronically after downloading it.
Then with online banking, payment can be made and the completed booking form despatched by email.
More and more members are using this feature, compared with previous years.
As a new addition this year the whole 2025 programme booklet as one document can be viewed on the website and also downloaded as a single document.
I am pleased to advise Bob Gregory-Smith continues to be on board as co-webmaster.
He can alter, add or delete anything on the website just the same as I.
Most importantly his website presence provides security and continuity.
The monitoring system by Google shows us how many hits per day the website receives. On average it’s about 10 per day and not always the same people. Bob also has access to this. We can see what they’ve viewed, and where they’re viewing from, but not who they are.
The most reviewed pages are the events each year, the Members passed away page and of course the report on the Annual Dinner, which usually scores 100 hits in 24 hours.
Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions, I am always on the lookout for continuous improvement.
