Surviving the semester...

You Made It Through!

Maybe you finished better than you thought you would.

Maybe you had a lot of challenges.

Either way, reward yourself for making it through!

Review The Semester

After you enjoy your reward and take a short break, sit back and think about the semester

Check your grades on ROAR.

It will tell you if you are in good academic standing (cumulative [overall] and current [most recent term] grade point averages are 2.0 or better).

Get paper and a pen.

Self-Reflection

Self-reflection brings perspective to our lives.

It helps us learn, grow, appreciate, and understand.

As a college student, it is important to practice self-reflection at the end of each semester.

By asking yourself questions, you can reflect on your strengths and challenges.

Below are some sample questions to help you begin your self-reflection.

•	What is something that I accomplished this semester that I am proud of? •	What was the most challenging part of the semester and why? What can I do differently next semester? •	Am I learning what I need to learn? If not, how can I or should I make changes? •	What are the three most important things I learned this past semester? •	How well did I use my in-class time? •	How well did I use my out-of-class time? •	How engaged was I with my classes? What can I do to increase my interest next semester? •	How can I improve how I work with assignments or projects? Where can I get help? •	How engaged was I with my campus community (ex., events, groups, etc.)? •	How can I improve on my time management and organization skills? How can I get help? •	Did I give my best effort this past semester? If so, how? If not, how can I improve? •	Was there a person this past semester that made an impact on me? If so, who and why? •	What was the best piece of writing that I did this semester? Why was it my best? •	What are six words that best describe the semester?

Make an Action Plan

When you have completed your self-reflection, it is time to review your answers.

But you don't understand.

I failed some classes!

Don't Panic.

Don't Give Up!   There is help.

Pierpont has a D/F repeat policy.

If you have taken less than 60 hours of classes, you can retake a class, and the second grade replaces the failing grade on your transcript.
