How to Make PDFs
Microsoft Word to PDF
Step 1
Click "File" on the left of the menu bar at the top of your Word document.
Step 2
This takes you to the File menu.
Click "Save a Copy."
Step 3
This opens the Save a Copy page.
Enter the name of your document.
Step 4
Click on Microsoft Word to open the menu.
Step 5
When the "Save As..." menu opens, click on "PDF".
Step 6
When you click on PDF, the menu should close.
Click on "Save," which should save it to your desktop.
Microsoft Excel to PDF
Use the same instructions as for Microsoft Word. (See above.)
On Step 5, when the "Save As..." menu opens, it will look different.
Find and Click on "PDF" the same as for Microsoft Word.
Taking Pictures to PDF
Another option is to take a picture of your assignment (ex., word document, project, your dog, etc.) using your cell phone, emailing it to yourself, and saving it as a PDF.
Step 1:
Take a picture of your work - make sure that the work is well-lit so everything is easily seen.
Step 2:
Send the picture(s) to your email -OR- save the picture(s) in Notes (iPhone) or Memos (Android) on your phone and send them to your email that way
Step 3:
Get the picture of your work from your email and paste it into a Word or Google Doc document.
Step 4:
Go to 'File', then 'Print', and save your work as a PDF document.
Step 5:
Turn in the PDF as directed by your instructor (e.g., email to your instructor, upload the PDF to Blackboard).
TIPS
Enlarge the pictures so they take up an entire page (one image per page of the document), and make sure they are right-side-up.
Put multiple pages into a single document before turning it into a PDF.
Scan & Create a PDF document using your cell phone
Scan and create a PDF document on Android Device
Open the Google Drive app .
In the bottom right, tap Add .
Tap Scan .
Take a photo of the document you’d like to scan. Adjust scan area: Tap Crop . Take photo again: Tap Re-scan current page . Scan another page: Tap Add .
To save the finished document, tap Done
Merge Multiple PDF Documents on Android Device
Select a file in the PDF Viewer file browser by long pressing on the cover image of the PDF. This will start the multi-file selection mode.
Select additional files for merging by tapping them. …
Once you’re done selecting files, press the merge icon in the multi-file selection bar at the bottom.
Scan and create a PDF document on iPhone and iPad
Open Notes on your iPhone or iPad.
Create a new note or tap on an existing one to add a document to it.
Tap the camera button at the bottom of the screen or above the keyboard.
Tap Scan Documents.
Line up the document you want to scan.
Tap the shutter button if the scanner doesn’t automatically scan the document. Repeat this step for every document you want to scan.
Tap Save after you’ve scanned all of the necessary pages. The button will have a count of how many pages you scanned.

If you need to upload an assignment, a picture, or another item as a PDF, CamScanner is a free app that helps users scan, edit, store, and make it available across smartphones, iPads, tablets, and computers.
It can convert a PDF to a Word document, Excel spreadsheet, etc.
Adobe Acrobat
Using your mouse, you can drag your Word file from your computer desktop to the Adobe Acrobat program that you open online.
