Financial Aid
On the top of the page is the primary tabs (Main menu; Personal Information, Student, Financial Aid, Proxy Access).
- Click on the Financial Aid tab.
Under the title Financial aid, there will be a menu with several items (e.g., Financial Aid Status).
Financial Aid Status
To find a summary of your financial information for a specific year:
- Click on Financial Aid Status on the menu
- Select the aid year you wish to view from a dropdown menu
- Click Submit
The sentences in the example page below contain links for more information in colored font.
For example, in the sentence "You have unsatisfied student requirements for this aid year" you click on "student requirements" to go to the page with information about the requirements.
Awarded
When a college admits you, the Financial Aid Department will figure out and offer you a “financial aid package” or “award.” This award includes different types of aid, such as loans or grants, intended to meet all or part of your financial need for one academic year.
On the example summary below, if you click on awarded in the sentence "You have been awarded financial aid with total (your amount will be here)," you will go to a second group of tabs as shown below below:
Award Overview
From the second group of tabs below, when you click on the Award Overview tab you will get a breakdown of:
- Need calculation
- If you have financial need and meet certain criteria, you may be offered “need-based aid.” This is calculated by looking at the Cost of Attendance, your expected family contribution, and what is left. You cannot receive more need-based aid than your financial need.
- Ex. If the Cost of Attendance is $15,000 and your expected family contribution is $10,000, your financial need is $5,000.
- The following are the need-based federal student aid programs:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
- Direct Subsidized Loan
- Federal Work-Study
- Expected enrollment status
- This is a record of dates you are expected to be enrolled in college and if you would be considered a full-time student (taking 12+ credit hours) or a part-time student (taking less than 12 credit hours).
- Cost of Attendance
- This is the amount it will cost you to attend college. At Pierpont, this is generally an estimate of tuition and fees.
- Cumulative Loan Information
- The total amount of student loan debt a borrower has. This is categorized by subsidized and unsubsidized loans.
- Financial Aid Award by Term for the selected aid year
- Refer to Awarded definition
- This is your Financial Aid Award organized by term (fall or spring semester) for the aid year you select.

Eligibility Requirements
These are requirements that must be met for a student to receive financial aid.
To find information about your eligibility requirements:
- Click on the Financial Aid tab on the primary tabs
- Click on Eligibility on the menu
You may see a few different things listed under "Status". You may see Reviewed - Complete or Waived in these boxes. These are listed under 'Satisfied Requirements' so they are met.
Award Payment Schedule
This is a schedule that shows when a student's financial award will be dispersed to their account.
To see your award payment schedule:
- Click on the Financial Aid tab on the primary tabs.
- Click Award
- Click Award Payment Schedule (example)
Account Summary by Term
An Account Summary are the charges, payments, and balances on your account.
Term refers to an academic time frame such as Fall Semester.
Some Financial Aid information is found under the Student primary tab.
To find a detailed list of charges, payments, and balances organized by semester:
- Click Student
- Click Student Account
- Click Account Summary by Term (example)
Account Transactions
These are monetary actions such as charges and payments.
To find a detailed list of your account transactions:
- Click Student
- Click Student Account
- Click Account Information (example)
Nelnet Refunding
Nelnet processes providing refunds to Pierpont students.
You can find the NelNet Refunding System under the Student primary tab.
We believe students should have choices when receiving their refund/difference payment.
We also know that students want thier money fast, so Pierpont is not only offering them an easy and convenient way to receive their refund, but is reducing costs in the process. Students choose how to receive their refund:
Direct Deposit - Quick and easy. Simply provide bank account information and Pierpont will deposit funds directly into the student's account.
Paper Check - We'll write the student a check and the student can track the status online.
Register to receive refund:
- Select My Pierpont
- Log-in with UCA and Password
- Select ROAR
- Select Student
- Select Nelnet Refunding
- Click Manage Refunds
- Confirm your email (only need to do once)
- Select how you want to receive your refund.
- Fill in the necessary information. Your refund will then be sent using the option you selected.
Stay current with mobile alerts!
Sign up to receive a text message once a refund has been issued. Click the mobile alert icon on the dashboard and enter your 10-digit phone number to enroll.

Another group of second tabs will appear where you can view your Eligibility Requirements:
- Student Unsatisfied Requirements
- Financial Aid requirements that have not been fulfilled.
- Student Satisfied Requirements
- Financial Aid requirements that have been fulfilled.
- Holds
- This is a block on your account that prohibits you from doing actions like scheduling classes or requesting a transcript. There are two basic types of holds, Credential or Financial.
- Credential - This type of hold is placed on a student when certain documentation is required but is incomplete or has not been received. Contact the Registrar's office or Admissions for more information.

- Financial - This hold is placed on a student when an outstanding balance exists on their account. A student should first contact Student Accounts to make payment arrangements. If Student Accounts determines the balance is Financial Aid related, they will refer the student to someone in Financial Aid.

- Academic Progress
- This determines if a student is meeting all of their education requirements and is on target to graduate.
