Online eBooks & Access Codes

what are ebooks and access codes?

Many classes use eBooks and/or access codes.

eBooks:  Electronic books displayed and read on an electronic device such as a tablet or smartphone).

Access Codes:  Books or activities that are accessed on a computer or tablet using an access code sort of like a password.  Access codes may be required for eBooks or for regular hardback or paperback books.

You will have to purchase these.

Access codes can be purchased from Pierpont's online bookstore.  Some access codes (for example, for math) can be purchased directly from the publisher's website.  Access codes bought from the publisher are usually less expensive than buying the access code from the bookstore.  However, you cannot use your financial aid to purchase.

To see if your class requires you to purchase an access code, check your syllabus.

Also, check other areas on your Blackboard and/or email your instructor for information.

IMPORTANT

Do not lose your bookstore receipt!

It may contain codes that you will need to get your eBooks (digital books).

For Math classes:  The book you purchase is published by Pearson.  To get access to the specific content associated with your class, as there is more than one class that uses the same book, you purchase the access code through BryteWave.

Different classes (e.g., math, English) use different publishers for their eBooks and textbooks.  Several of those publishers use Brytewave for the access codes for their eBooks and textbooks.
