TFTaDMSSoCAR E. vaccinii Cowberry Redleaf On leaves and flowers of Vaccinium vitis-idaea causing swelling and malformation. Frequent and widespread in Scottish mountains. Known from Dee (Glen Tanar, 5 ix 1975 & 16 ix 1987), Moray (Abernethy, 16 ix 1979; Loch Garten, 11 vii 1961; Boat of Garten, ix 1946; Loch an Eilean, 10 ix 1957; Coylum Bridge, 10 ix 1984; Kingussie, 8 ix 1952; Rothiemurchus M. Wilson no further data), Tay (Inver, vii 1955; Lintrathan, Angus, 1933; Todhills, Angus, 30 vi 1969; Glen Clova, 21 vi 1965; Ballendalloch, vi 1936; Blair Atholl, 14 vii 1968; Glamis, 19 ix 1987; Kindrogan, 18 viii 1972) and Ross (Beinn Eighe, 19 ix 1955). This taxon occurs in Stevenson but the name undoubtedly refers to a whole range of species. Conidial state as Cylindrosporium deformans Dee (Baldwin Wd., Birks, vi 1845 J.W.H. Trail).

TFTaDMSSoCAR E. dahliae In leaves of Dahlia cultivars. Moray (Boat of Garten, ix 1946). Apparently first recorded in 1933 (Foister, 1958) but is widespread and common and some stocks severely infected and totally checked.
TFTaDMSSoCAR E. eryngii In leaves of Eryngium maritimum. Only known from Clyde (Aryshire). Vanky suggests that this collection refers to E. eryngii-plani.

As Protomyces fergussonii Tay (Fern) and Dee (New Pitsligo) Rev. Ferguson in Stevenson. Noted in Foister (1958) on ornamental Myosotis.

Known from Clyde (Chatelherault), Forth (Currie, 2 vi 2002; Brock Wd., Reserve, East Lothian, 3 vi 2007; Ravelston, Edinb., 2 v 2004), Tay (Meall nan Tarmachan, 7 vii 1996,Boarshill, Fife 12 v 1982). Also from N. Hoy, Orkney, Eriksay, Jura, Skye, Shetland and Mull. As Cylindrosporium ficariae Berk. n.s. Fungi Brit. Exsiccata, Forde, Rev. Vize. in E. Looks as if records in Stevenson of E. ungeriarum belong here as the host is listed as Ranunculus ficaria. Correctly listed in same book as Cylindrosporium ficariae from Tay and Dee.

TFTaDMSSoCAR U. magica As U. cepulae. On leaves of Leek (Allium ampelloprsum). Known from Forth (Inveresk, vii 1924; Portobello, no further data, M. Wilson Herb.) and Dee (Aberdeen, ix 1942). First recorded for Scotland in Forth in1912 as U. cepulae since when it has been found on Allium porrium in most years since even to 1958 but with severe outbreaks in 1948 and 1949 in S. East and S. West. Sales of diseased Plants (Scotland) Order of 1936 covered the sale of smutted plants.

In Dennis 1986 from Ben Bhreac North Uist. On Primula vulgaris Shetland. As U. primulicola Forth (North Berwick, 1 v 1960) and Tweed (Burnmouth, Berwickshire, 6 iv 1985) – all conidia only.
TFTaDMSSoCAR U. primulicola As Tubercina. In ovaries of Primula farinosa but material looks like P. vulgaris and P. farinosa has not been recorded in Scotland since 1904 from Forth (Kaimes Hill, Kirknewton vi 1943). Also reported in Foister on Primula spp. but records require examination, possibly on cultivated populations.

As U. nuda reported as severe in some crops in E. Central and S. East Scotland in 1948 & 1949 and in period 1924 to 1937 was distributed and often serious; first recorded on Hordeum in 1932 with severe infections from time to time. 1947 surge in infection with introduction of Scandanavian varieties and then severe in 1948-54 & 1956 in North, North East and East Central areas all areas in 1949 and 1953, aqnd in West Central in 1954 and South Central and East in 1951. On Triticium severe outbreaks in E. Central, and S. East areas in 1948 & 1949 and in the period 1924-1937 was distributed and often serious; see Foister, 1958.

Known from Tay (on E. hermaphroditum Meall Ghaordie, Glen Shee, 19 iv 1954 matured in glass bee-jar) and Dee (same host Cairnwell, 854m., 9 x 1963): on E. nigrum, Rannoch, 610m., 5 iii 1961; same host Glen Fee, Clova type in E., 21 x 1953; Angus), Moray (on E. nigrum, Ardvie, xii 1924, McDonald & Anderson).and Forth (on E. nigrum, Gifford, isotype in E , 19 xi 1954).
TFTaDMSSoCAR H. purpureum Violet Root Rot As Rhizoctonia crocorum record from Clyde (West of Scotland College of Agriculture, on Narcissus) and Forth (RBG Edinb., on Phygelius aequalis, 10 x 1978). It is possible that records of Corticium anthochroum in Stevenson from Moray (Altyre, on Betula sticks, Rev. Keith), may belong here. Also known as H. brebissonii under which name it is recorded from Tiree on Daucus carota. Thanatephorus crocorum as Rhizctonia crocorum & R. medicaginis – Thanatophyton state widespread, 43 hosts being listed by Foister in Economic Plant Diseases of Scotland. Violet Root Rot is very uncommon in Scotland, having occurred only on 6 hosts by the HMSO 1958 report, and only twice on Potato (Solanum) as Rhizoctonia crocorum in Forth (East Lothian, 1908) and Tay (North east Angus, 1909). Known as R. crocorum from Solway (Dumfrieshire, 2 records on Beta vulgaris (Sugar beet) in 1941 & 1945 & on Fodder Beet in 1954); once recorded on Brassica napo-brassica (Swede) – Foister, 1958. Single record of Root Rot on Rheum rhaponiticum in Forth (Edinburgh, 1907) but serious outbreaks on Daucus carota (Carrot) in Dee in 1949 & 1956 and two severe cases in Clyde (Ayrshire) and Inner Hebrides. Record of H. purpureum on Picea sitchensis (Watson, 1928). Re-examination of some records may prove that some belong to H. longisporum. See Tuberculina below.
